Access to starting point:
We drive to Mojstrana, then follow the signs for Vrata Valley. Initially still asphalt, subsequently mostly gravel road, which after approximately 12 km from the center of Mojstrana leads us to a large parking lot in Vrata Valley. During the summer season, parking fees are collected.
Path description:
From the parking lot, continue along the gravel road closed to public traffic, passing Šlajmerjev dom to quickly reach Aljažev dom v Vratih.
Bypass Aljažev dom on the right side and continue straight towards Triglav, Sovatne, Luknja... (right Škrlatica, bivouac at Rušje...). Continue on the poorer gravel road past the winter room to a marked junction at the famous peg (monument to fallen partisan climbers).
Continue straight again (left Tominšek's path), a gentle path leads us with nice views of Triglav and Triglav North Face. After a few minutes of further walking, we enter a beech forest where the path over Sovatne branches right; we continue straight towards Luknja and Triglav - path over Prag. Follows a short ascent on the cart track, then markers direct left to the path approaching the bed of Triglavska Bistrica. Here the path passes the memorial to mountain victims, a bit further to the next marked junction.
Left, across the stream, the path over Prag continues; we go straight on the path that gradually begins to ascend more visibly. The path to Luknja ascends moderately for some time, higher it becomes steeper and more scenic. A bit higher, the path leads through a belt of shrubs and sparse forest, where a trail branches right to the nearby bivouac; we continue on the wider path, which soon takes us out of the forest belt. The path becomes a bit steeper, gradually leading to the scree under Luknja. The path over the scree is quite slippery, but at the foot of the walls, fixed ropes assist (easy when dry, especially useful on descent). For a short time, we ascend steeply right by the wall, then the path turns slightly right and higher up brings us to the junction on Luknja, from where a nice view opens to the mountains above Zadnjica.
From Luknja, continue straight downhill (left Triglav via Plemenice (Bamberg path), right Bovški Gamsovec and pathless approach to Pihavec), descending the old mule track. Initially, the path leads over a small landslide, requiring caution due to increased risk of falling rocks. Follows descent above steep Koriti; we descend on the wide path as the old mule track is relatively well preserved despite considerable steepness. After approximately 40 minutes of descent, losing more than 300 meters of elevation, we reach a marked junction.
From the junction, continue slightly left towards Dolič (slightly right Zadnjica) and begin ascending again. Subsequently, we mostly ascend moderately on the mule track leading over steep and occasionally exposed precipitous slopes. As the path is wide and well-engineered, it is not technically demanding but is exposed to falling rocks and due to occasional deep views mostly unsuitable for those with vertigo. The path occasionally makes a few switchbacks, otherwise mostly ascends traversing right, thus approaching the mighty wall of Kanjavec more and more.
Higher, a climbing path from Zadnjica via Komar joins from the right; a bit further, Mira Marko Debelak path (path over Kanjavec ledges) branches right. The increasingly scenic path higher up makes a few more switchbacks, and from it, a path to Triglav branches left.
Continue straight, then quickly reach Koča na Doliču.
