Aljažev dom v Vratih - Mali Triglav (Tominšek route)

Access to starting point:
We drive to Mojstrana, then follow the signs for Vrata Valley. Further on we drive along the toll road, which is closed to public traffic in winter, following it to the large parking lot located a few minutes before Aljažev dom v Vratih.

Path description:
From the large parking lot we continue along the road closed to public traffic, along which we reach Šlajmerjev dom in a few minutes and a little further Aljažev dom v Vratih.
Before Aljažev dom the path to Škrlatica branches off to the right, we continue straight towards Triglav, Luknje, Pogačnikov dom na Kriških podih and numerous other destinations along a wide path that leads us into the forest after the chapel, further on it is quite gentle.
We continue past the winter bivouac, when we leave the forest we arrive at the famous plaque in Vrata Valley dedicated to the fallen partisan mountaineers.
Here we leave the wide gentle path continuing towards the valley head and continue left towards Tominšek route. We continue through scree into the forest, where we begin to ascend a well-constructed path which is quite steep and has wooden steps in some places. After a little over an hour and a half of steep path the forest starts to thin and we reach the start of the climbing section, where the first protections assist us.
Further the path becomes increasingly precipitous and exposed to falling rocks, from the slopes of Rjavčeve glave it gradually moves to the slopes of Begunjski vrh. The climbing part of Tominšek route mainly leads in a traversing ascent to the right, several times steeply ascending straight up with the aid of protections.
Above 2000 m a.s.l. the path gradually becomes less demanding and we join the path leading over Prag, shortly after reaching Begunjski studenec.
We continue steeply ascending, technically not demanding on this section, after about 15 minutes of further walking we reach the next junction where the path to Dom Valentina Staniča pod Triglavom branches left, we continue straight following signs to Triglav and Triglavski dom na Kredarici.
Further the path temporarily levels somewhat and bypasses Kotel on the right and passes to Triglavske pode, where orientation is somewhat difficult especially in fog. On the upper part of Triglavske pode the path becomes steeper again and technically demanding, protections assist on harder spots.
When ascending above the steep part the path levels again and with ever better views in a few minutes of further walking we reach Triglavski dom na Kredarici.
We continue right towards Triglav (sharply left Kredarica summit and Kot Valley, left Krma Valley and Pokljuka) and descend on a technically undemanding path to Ledeniški preval, from where we begin ascending towards the ridge of Mali Triglav. Here we follow the markings and the large one visible from afar, near which the very demanding path to Triglav starts.
Initially we ascend the still not very steep slope with a few pegs and individual cables, upon reaching the ridge of Mali Triglav we start traversing up to the left, where cables were added to the pegs some years ago allowing self-protection with a via ferrata kit. Follow several quite steep and exposed ascents where we watch not to slip, on the part with loose stones on the path we must also be careful not to trigger rocks as it can be deadly for hikers below. Further the path is fairly narrow and with more visitors queues can form due to difficult passing.
Higher the steepness eases and from the left joins the path from Dom Planika pod Triglavom namely over Mali Triglav, which we reach shortly after.
