Access to starting point:
We drive to Mojstrana, then follow the signs for Vrata Valley. We continue on the toll road, which is closed to public traffic in winter, following it to the large parking lot located a few minutes before Aljažev dom v Vratih.
Route description:
From the parking lot, continue along the gravel road closed to public traffic, passing Šlajmerjev dom and quickly reaching Aljažev dom v Vratih.
Bypass Aljažev dom on the right and continue straight towards Triglav, Sovatna, Luknja... (right to Škrlatica, bivouac at Rušje...). Continue along the poorer gravel road, which leads past the winter shelter to the marked junction at the famous peg (monument to fallen partisan mountaineers).
Continue straight again (left Tominšek's path), a gentle path leads with beautiful views of Triglav and Triglav north face. After a few minutes of walking, upon reaching the beech forest, the path over Sovatna branches right, we continue straight towards Luknja and Triglav - path over Prag. A short ascent on the cart track follows, then markers direct left to the path approaching the bed of Triglavska Bistrica. Here the path passes the memorial to mountain victims, shortly after reaching the next marked junction.
Straight continues to Luknja, we go left towards the path over Prag, first crossing Triglavska Bistrica stream (source of Bistrica slightly higher).
On the other side of the stream, quickly reach the first steep section aided by initial pegs, after a few minutes difficulty eases, continuing steep ascent with increasingly beautiful views across the valley.
This section is partly overgrown with dwarf pines, higher up safety equipment reappears, soon reaching probably the hardest part on the path over Prag, climbing a nearly vertical 15-meter chimney with brackets and cables. The path gradually eases, Tominšek's path joins from left, a few steps further reaching Begunjski studenec.
Continue steep ascent, technically not demanding here, after about 15 minutes reaching next junction where path to dom Valentina Staniča pod Triglavom branches left, we go straight following signs for Triglav and Triglavski dom na Kredarici.
Path temporarily flattens, bypasses Kotel on right and enters Triglavske pode, where orientation is harder especially in fog. Upper part of Triglavske pode becomes steeper and technically demanding, with safety gear on difficult spots.
Above steep part, path flattens again with improving views, in a few minutes ascending to Triglavski dom na Kredarici.

I first hiked the path on 4.9.2011. I would just warn that on Triglavske pode you need to cross a snowfield, which in good weather (we had sun) doesn't pose major problems, but it can be slippery if the snow doesn't melt in colder weather.

The "čez prag" path is considered the easiest from Vrata but still I must mention that you have to climb 10 m of almost vertical wall, otherwise excellently secured (pegs, cables,..) and at two points possibly exposed ledges, which is even desirable for average hikers (so the path isn't too long) but for those with vertigo and less experience, those few meters can be a problem. Just this weekend I met hikers there who were turning back!
However, it can be climbed, no panic! If that's a problem, I suggest the path from Krma, Kot or Rudno polje

Advice. If you wish to ascend to the summit of Triglav, the path over Prag is merely the initial overture. If the passages over Prag seem very very difficult to you or you even turn back, I truly advise against pursuing the summit. The more times you go over the pegs, the easier it will be and less fear there will be. Which will come in very handy from Kredarica onwards...
Otherwise, the path over Prag is only slightly exposed on pegs in three sections, which means approximately like climbing a ladder to the first floor - not the second.

I agree that the "over Prag" path is an overture in difficulty for the Triglav route. However, if I'm not mistaken, Merika wants to visit the Triglavski dom na Kredarici and not Triglav. The discussion is also about this path!
It is true that the real "via crucis" starts only from Kredarica onwards! However, once again; everything can be climbed or passed with proper equipment and will. For beginners, the rule is always! Never alone but only with an experienced mountaineer...not to mention equipment, physical fitness, etc.

This year I went to Kredarica once from Krma, once to Triglav via Planika and to the summit via Škrbina, and until now I hadn't even dared to think about climbing, let alone Triglav, and I must say that for those afraid of heights the via ferrata set helps a lot, when I had it on, all fear literally disappeared and when I was descending from the summit via Mali Triglav, it felt like I'd been to the top countless times. Just advice for those afraid of heights and climbing, if I hadn't tried it, I wouldn't have believed it

Interesting how opinions differ. To me, the path over Prag seems more demanding than from Kredarica to Triglav. And I've been to the summit several times (maybe precisely because of that, although it didn't seem so the first time either). Up through Prag is quite okay, all the difficult sections can be overcome fairly easily, there are enough holds and safety gear. Downhill, however, the path is extremely dangerous for slipping, because there are many scree sections, and the parts on pegs are always harder to climb down. In addition, it should be mentioned that in the afternoon the path is in the sun all the time. In the morning, it's still pleasantly shady or there's no sun at all if you go early enough.
Regarding the via ferrata set - on this path you mostly don't need it or it doesn't help on the pegs. But it might come in handy for some on the rare sections with wire and pegs/brackets where you can clip in.
And one more thing: in the lower part of the path, before it crosses Bistrico, you need to pay attention to the markings so you don't go too far ahead under the wall. I think quite a few people miss this junction.
