Badacsonytördemic - Badacsony (west path)

Access to starting point:
From the Pomurska motorway we turn off at the Dolga Vas exit, then continue driving towards Hungary. The route leads us through the place Redics, then we follow the signs for the town Zalaegerszeg, from there in the direction of Lake Balaton, Heviz and Keszthely. When we arrive at the place Keszthely we turn onto the bypass and then follow the signs for Balatonfuered (along the bypass there are roundabouts). When at the end of the place Keszthely the road towards the place Sopron branches off, we continue towards the east, but only 2 km, then turn right towards the village Badacsonytördemic. When we cross the railway track we take the first street on the left and park on the large parking lot by the railway station.
A somewhat shorter route is Lendava - Pince - Tornyszentmiklos - Nagykanizsa - Balatonszentgyorgy exit - Badacsonytördemic, but it is much more difficult orientationally.

Path description:
From the railway station, we head onto a one-way road that goes slightly uphill. Soon we arrive at a junction, where we continue right, then just a little further at the next junction left. We continue along an initially gentle, then increasingly steep road that continues on the western slope among the vineyards.
Further on, the road leads us across a few junctions, which are well marked (at one of the junctions a path branches off with a blue circle marker, which then rejoins our path). When higher up the path temporarily flattens, the asphalt ends too, and a view opens to the west towards the ruins of Szigliget Castle. Here we leave the track and switch to the stairway that takes us to the inn.
From the inn we continue parallel to the path marked "red path" (we continue on the path marked with "blue line" blazes). At the nearby junction we continue left, but follow the gentle path for only about 50 metres more, then continue up the steep steps. During the ascent on the steps there are four rest areas, the first is called Ilona Zrinyi rest area, the second Lorantffy Zsuzsana, the third Csaky Krisztina and the fourth Czinka Panna. When we have climbed all the steps we arrive at a junction, where the path to the nearby viewpoint continues left; we go right, where we soon reach a bench with a nice view into the valley. Further on we reach Ranold's cross (Ranold was a bishop), beside which there are a few benches and a nice view. The path ahead also passes a shelter, after which it gradually leads to the central part of the former volcano. A little further we reach the next junction, where the marked path turns slightly downhill (we can take a well-trodden shortcut that leads us past another shelter back to the marked path), then the ascent resumes.
We continue along the path marked "blue line" and climb it to the forest-covered summit.
From the summit we can, at our own risk, climb to the viewpoint tower, from which the view extends as far as Donačka gora, Boč, Ivanščica, Ravna gora and Pohorje.
