Then drive through the underpass under the motorway to reach a roundabout, from which continue towards Golnik. The route continues through the settlement Mlaka pri Kranju, but at the end of the settlement turn right towards Srakovlje. Driving continues through Srakovlje, Spodnja Bela, Srednja Bela, Zgornja Bela (in Zgornja Bela you join the road from Preddvor) to Bašelj, where the main road makes a long left turn; leave it and continue straight towards Gamsova pot. Path description:
From the starting point at the log cabin of the Tourist Association Bašelj continue on the forest road closed to public traffic, which leads us along the Belica stream. Initially we walk past the football and basketball pitches, then we soon reach the first junction of Gamsova pot, where we continue left (straight on the road Kališče, Gradišče, Storžič...) into the forest, where initially we walk parallel to the road, then the path turns even further left and begins to ascend transversely across the gradually steeper slope. Higher up we step out of the forest, from where a nice view opens towards Gamsov raj, Gorenjska and the nearby village Laško. From here past the bench and NOB memorial in a few steps we descend to the nearby road, along which we walk just a few metres as the signs for Gamsova pot direct us right into the forest. A few minutes' ascent through the forest follows, then we reach a forest road, which we follow right to the nearby junction and parking area.
From the junction continue on the rougher and steeper left road towards sv. Lovrenc and Dom pod Sv. Lovrencem (straight Kališče, Storžič - it is also possible to reach Kališče and Storžič by continuing left). From the junction we ascend quite steeply; during the ascent a marked footpath branches off right, leading directly to the church of sv. Lovrenc and bypassing Dom pod Lovrencem. Continue on the road the whole time, higher up from which some views open up temporarily. When the road turns sharply right after a while, it brings us in a few steps to the aforementioned Dom pod Lovrencem.
From the hut continue towards Javornik, Velika and Mala Poljana, Kališče and Storžič on a path that ascends moderately through the forest. The well-trodden path quickly takes us out of the forest onto a vast hay meadow, across which we walk to the church of sv. Lovrenc amid fine views.
Behind the church the path returns to the forest and begins descending to a marked junction a few minutes away, where we continue straight towards Storžič and Kališče.
Further on towards Storžič continue on the still-wide path, which rises gently. The path soon narrows and then ascends steeply through the forest for some time. Higher up the path brings us out of the forest and fine views open onto the southern slopes of Storžič. The steepness continues unabated to the bench at the junction.
Left a marked path leads towards Javornik and Poljane, we head right towards Kališče. From the junction the path becomes somewhat narrower and less trodden. Further on we traverse the slopes eastwards for a long time. Forest and grassy slopes alternate along the path, some places quite steep. During the traverse the path occasionally rises more steeply, sometimes descending slightly. In the second part of the traverse the path brings us to the spring below Bašeljsko sedlo. Here the path turns slightly right and continues traversing the slopes until it brings us to a marked junction, where we continue straight towards Bašeljski vrh and Mali Grintovec (left Storžič, right Dom na Kališču).
The path ahead climbs more steeply through a belt of dwarf pines and, with fine views of neighbouring Mali Grintovec, brings us to the dwarf pine-covered ridge of Bašeljski vrh, where in the next few minutes we reach the next well-marked junction. At the junction the path to Mali Grintovec and Srednji vrh branches off right, we continue straight and, with Storžič in view, continue the ascent. The path, which runs along and beside the dwarf pine-covered ridge, joins shortly below the summit the path from Jekarica and Bašeljski preval. Here continue right along the somewhat narrower ridge and in one more minute of walking reach Bašeljski vrh, from which a fine view opens towards the mountains above Jezersko, extending to Košuta, Obir and the Lavanttal Alps in Austria.
