Bašelj - Dom na Kališču (via Sveti Lovrenc)

Access to starting point:
A) From the highway Ljubljana - Jesenice, we take the exit Kranj - east, and then continue driving in the direction of Jezersko. When we arrive in Preddvor, we leave the main road and continue driving left towards the center of the mentioned settlement, from there we follow the signs for the settlement Bašelj. When we arrive in Bašelj, at the spot where the main road makes a long left turn, we leave it and continue driving straight in the direction of Gamsova pot. We continue driving on a narrow asphalt road which leads us between the houses and along the stream Belica. We park on the parking lot by the Tourist Association Bašelj.
B) From the highway Jesenice - Ljubljana, we take the exit Kranj - west and at the first intersection continue left. Further on, we drive through the underpass under the highway, then we arrive at a roundabout, from which we continue driving in the direction of Golnik. The road ahead leads us through the settlement Mlaka pri Kranju, and at the end of the settlement we continue right in the direction of the settlement Srakovlje. This is followed by driving through Srakovlje, Spodnja Bela, Srednja Bela, Zgornja Bela (in Zgornja Bela we join the road from Preddvor) to Bašelj, where the main road makes a long left turn, we leave it and continue driving straight in the direction of Gamsova pot. We continue driving on a narrow asphalt road which leads us between the houses and along the stream Belica. We park on the parking lot by the Tourist Association Bašelj.

Path description:
From the starting point at the log cabin of the Tourist Association Bašelj we continue on the forest road closed to public traffic, which leads us along the stream Belica. At first, we walk past the football and basketball courts, then we already reach the first junction of Gamsova pot, where we continue left (straight on the road to Kališče, Gradišče, Storžič...) into the forest, where at first we walk parallel to the road, then the path turns even more to the left and begins to ascend transversely across the gradually steeper slope. Higher up, we step out of the forest, from where a nice view opens towards Gamsov raj, Gorenjska and the nearby village Laško. From here, past the bench and the NOB memorial, we descend in a few steps to the nearby road, along which we walk only a few meters, as the signs for Gamsova pot direct us right into the forest. A few minutes of ascent through the forest follow, then we reach the forest road, which we follow to the right to the nearby junction and parking lot.
From the junction, we continue on the poorer and steeper left road in the direction of sv. Lovrenc and Dom pod Sv. Lovrencem (straight to Kališče, Storžič - it is also possible to reach Kališče and Storžič by continuing left). From the junction onwards, we ascend relatively steeply, and during the ascent a marked footpath branches off to the right, leading directly to the church of sv. Lovrenc and bypassing Dom pod Lovrencem. We continue along the road the whole time, and higher up some partial views open from it. When the road turns sharply right after some time, it brings us in a few steps to the aforementioned Dom pod Lovrencem.
From the hut, we continue in the direction of Javornik, Velika and Mala Poljana, Kališče and Storžič, on the path that moderately ascends through the forest. The well-trodden path quickly takes us out of the forest onto an expansive hayfield, across which we walk with nice views to the church of sv. Lovrenc.
Behind the church, the path returns to the forest and begins descending towards a marked junction a few minutes away, where we continue straight in the direction of Storžič and Kališče.
Further on, we continue in the direction of Storžič along the wide path, which rises slightly. The path soon becomes narrower and then ascends steeply through the forest for quite some time. Higher up, the path brings us out of the forest and nice views open onto the southern slopes of Storžič. The steepness does not ease all the way to the bench at the junction.
To the left, a marked path leads towards Javornik and Poljane, but we head right towards Kališče. From the junction, the path becomes somewhat narrower and less trodden. Further on, we traverse the slopes towards the east for a long time. Forest and grassy slopes alternate along the path, some of which are quite steep. During the traverse, the path occasionally rises a bit more steeply, and sometimes descends slightly. In the second part of the traverse, the path brings us to the spring below Bašeljsko sedlo. Here, the path turns slightly right and continues traversing the slopes until it brings us to a marked junction, where we continue right towards Dom na Kališču (left to Storžič, straight or slightly left to Bašeljski vrh and Mali Grintovec).
From the junction onwards follows walking along a wide panoramic ridge, along which we reach Dom na Kališču in a few minutes.
