From Ljubljana, we drive towards Velike Lašče and further towards Kočevje. Soon after Ribnica, at the settlement Dolenja vas, we leave the main road which leads towards Kočevje and we continue driving right in the direction of Gotenica and Kočevska Reka. When we arrive in Kočevska Reka, at the first somewhat larger but unmarked intersection we continue right and then we continue driving on a narrower road which after a few km of further driving brings us to the village Borovec pri Kočevski Reki. In the center of the village Borovec is an intersection near which we can park, otherwise we continue driving in the direction of the saddle Krempa and then we park at a suitable place by the road.
Path description:
From the crossroad in Borovec we go left in the direction of saddle Krempa and we continue on the asphalt road for approximately 100 m, then the blazes direct us right onto a macadam road. The road ahead runs through a larger meadow, then crosses a strip of forest and brings us to the upper part of the village, after which along the path we notice information boards.
From the information boards we continue on the marked path, which gently ascends through an expansive meadow. On the upper part of the meadow or pasture we notice a hunting observatory, the path goes just a few meters behind it into dense forest, through which we ascend on a wide and well-maintained path, along which we notice blazes in the shape of daffodils. A moderately steep path, which runs along the bottom of the valley, brings us higher out of the forest onto a grassy slope, where we can in (usually) May admire the blooming of daffodils, which is also indicated by the information board next to a pleasant bench with a table. From the information board we ascend to Kremparsko sedlo in a few dozen steps, from which a nice view opens onto the upper Kolpa valley.
On the saddle we continue left in the direction of the peak Krempa, and continue the ascent on the marked path, which leads us into the forest. The path ahead steeply ascends through mostly pine forest and after crossing a short steep and especially in wet slippery-dangerous slope brings us to an exposed vantage point (we can avoid the steep slope somewhat to the left). We continue the ascent on a relatively steep path, which in a few minutes of further walking brings us to the summit of Krempa, in the middle of which there is a stamping box.
On the way: Kremparsko sedlo (869m)
