Access to starting point:
We reach the starting point via local roads that branch off from the highway exit Videm / Udine (Sud or Nord – in both cases we follow the signposts for Spilimbergo and Maniago). After Maniago, signposts direct us into the mountain valley Val Cellina, we drive through the tourist settlement Barcis by the eponymous lake, we continue driving all the way to the hamlet Cellino di Sopra. Right before it, we turn onto a macadam road, along which after a little less than a kilometer we park on an unmarked parking lot.
Path description:
From the parking lot, we continue on the road which in a wide turn crosses the mountain stream Chialedina, after which it becomes a little steeper, on steeper parts asphalted. After a little less than an hour, we arrive at the first junction, where we continue straight on the road, to the left the path no. 969 continues to the notch Forcella Giaveit or to M. Provagna (1696m). In the next half hour, we arrive at the mountain pasture Casera Gravuzza, where the road ends (it is also possible to drive here). To the right, path 902 leads further to the notch Frugna, ours turns left into the head of the valley. Upon exiting the forest, the path becomes more strenuous, it leads us across a wide torrential bed and alongside it to the moraine. From it we descend into a gully and across it on demanding steep terrain below the rocky overhang, visible from afar, back into the forest. A little higher, the path becomes less noticeable, it is necessary to follow the markers; a cairn is placed here. Our path goes left further through the forest, an unmarked but better visible trail leads ahead below the walls of Cima Lastei. The path then soon leads us, with the aid of a short fixed cable, over rocks onto extensive steep slopes of larches and high grasses. The path, which is hard to follow here, mostly sticks to the edge of the grassy slope. Orientation is no longer demanding, the steepness eases somewhat higher up, when we enter the area below the summit base of Cima Lastei, the lateral subpeak of the mountain Col Nudo, and the path soon brings us to the pass Passo di Valbona. From the pass, we continue along the western edge of the wide grassy slope of Cima Lastei, the path avoids a short rocky step to the right, then again transitions to the edge along which we reach the summit of Cima Lastei. The path then descends to the connecting rocky ridge, briefly drops to its south side and then across a narrow notch (demanding) brings us back onto the narrower ridge (very exposed). To the summit follows a short undemanding section of path on a gravelly slope.
On the way: Casera Gravuzza (984m), Passo di Valbona (2130m), Cima Lastei (2439m)
