Concentration camp - Koča na Ljubelju

Access to starting point:
We leave the Gorenjska motorway at Podtabor junction, then continue driving in the direction of the Ljubelj border crossing. On the road towards Ljubelj we drive past the memorial park of the concentration camp Ljubelj south, where the road turns a little to the left. There follows a right hairpin turn, some ascent and a left hairpin turn. At the beginning of the left hairpin turn we leave the main road and continue straight on a macadam road, alongside which there are signs for Korošica and parking lot. We drive a few tens of meters further along the road to a rough parking lot, where we park in a way that does not hinder forestry work.

Path description:
From the starting point, we continue along the cart track which continues from the end of the road; at the sign which we notice on the left side of the cart track and on which there are signs for mountain pasture Korošica, we leave the cart track and continue left on the old border guard path. At the beginning we cross a smaller torrent, then we start to ascend diagonally towards the left, the path a little ahead leads parallel with the main road which we see steeply below us. After the steep slope, the path slightly descends into the riverbed of the torrent and we also cross it. Immediately after the crossing, we continue right and ascend for a short time along the stream, then the footpath turns left and further ascends diagonally. A little further a nice view opens up in the direction of Begunjščica, a little after the panoramic part we reach a macadam road, where we join the normal path from Ljubelj.
We follow the road to the right, ascend through two hairpin turns, then a nice view opens up towards Šentanska dolina and Begunjščica. Higher we also go past transformers, a chapel, a trough and a bench. After the bench a few more hairpin turns follow, and with increasingly beautiful views we arrive at the Koča na Ljubelju and Ljubelj pass, from where a nice view also opens up towards Austria.
