History: The hut stands on a small plateau at Zeleniško sedlo between the northern walls of Begunjščica and the southern slopes of the border ridge Na Možeh. The first hut at Zelenica was built in 1929 by five private individuals who refused to rent it to the Tržič branch of the SPD; it was burned down during the occupation. In 1950, workers from the police school then based in Begunje began building a new hut. On 15 December 1952, PD Tržič took over the unfinished building on lease, made it provisionally usable and opened it the following year. Under an agreement between the RSNZ (owner) and the PZS, PD Tržič acquired permanent ownership on 24 July 1962. The hut was then fully completed and equipped, and officially opened on 19 January 1966. In 1992 an extension was added above the entrance to create a lecture room. The hut burned down completely in December 1999. The society rebuilt it and it has been open again since 2011.
The hut also hosts the Zelenica Mountaineering Education Centre, managed by Stanko Koblar (040 627 808).
Views: From the hut or nearby vantage points the view is limited by surrounding peaks and ridges, but the immediate surroundings are all the more attractive. From the nearby former upper chairlift station there is a view over the rocky plateau between the Ljubeljščica ridge to the north and the walls of Begunjščica to the south, along which the chairlift runs, and further towards the Šentanska dolina with the western part of Košuta rising above it. The entire southern side is dominated by the walls of Begunjščica. To the west lies the undulating Zelenica valley with Srednji vrh above it, blocking the view towards Stol. To the northwest is Vrtača, and the northern side is framed by the Na Možeh ridge. Climbing to a viewpoint on the ridge opens a fine view over the hilly Carinthian landscape towards the Drava.
