Drežnica - Batognica (south way)

Access to starting point:
From Tolmin or Bovec we drive to Kobarid, from there we follow the road in the direction of Drežnica (turn-off of the road is from Kobarid bypass). We continue through a bridge over the river Soča and immediately after the bridge we turn left in the direction of Drežnica. We then follow this mostly ascending road to the center of Drežnica, where we turn right and drive ahead to primary school, which is a starting point of our path.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we go past the chapel and primary school on a marked path to Krn. Further, the path leads us through the forest and then by the pasture to the signpost Triglav National Park. Here also the path on the road joins (road from Drežnica) and we continue on a marked path, which a little higher crosses the stream Ročica, and then we get at the marked crossing, where we continue right in the direction of the easier path on Krn (left bivouac and very demanding path on Krn).
The path ahead runs through the forest and is all the time well-marked. Higher from the right also joins an unmarked path from Podbrdo, and here we continue left and further we gradually start ascending in zig-zags. For some time we are ascending relatively steeply, and then we get to a smaller clearing, on which stands a hunting cottage.
From the hunting cottage ahead, the path starts ascending below the slopes of Kožljak (1587 meters) and soon turns a little to the left. Higher, the path brings us out of the forest and nice views open up on Drežnica and Krasji vrh (1773 meters). Further, the path for some time crosses quite steep slopes, and then turns a little to the right and joins the path from the mountain pasture Kuhinja.
Here we continue left towards Krn and continue the ascent along the old military mule track, which initially still runs across the steep western slopes, then gradually rises onto the Krn plateau, where the slope becomes less steep.
On this section, we leave the normal path towards Krn and take the path that leads towards Krnska škrbina.
Continuing, the path ascends mostly diagonally to the right in a few hairpin turns, leading us across the Krnska plošča; as it approaches Krnska škrbina, the slope becomes quite steep, but the path remains fairly wide. Further on, the slope becomes slightly less steep, while the path itself gets steeper and climbs to a junction at Krnska škrbina, from where a beautiful view opens towards the north.
Here we continue along the right path towards Batognica (left towards Krn, straight down to Krnsko jezero), which becomes technically more demanding. The path on an exposed path with the help of stairs runs on precipitous southern slopes of Batognica. In wet or snow serious risk of slip. Few meters below the summit, the path flattens and without any bigger problems brings us to the top.
