Description of mountain:
Batognica is a 2164 m high mountain that was the site of the so-called mine warfare during World War I. Remnants of the fighting between Italian and Austro-Hungarian soldiers are still visible everywhere on the upper slopes. The crater from the explosion of 4100 kg of nitroglycerin blasting gelatin is still clearly visible from surrounding peaks.
Additionally, Batognica offers a beautiful view of Krn, Kanin, Vrh nad Peski, and many of the highest peaks in the Julian and Kamnik-Savinja Alps.
