Gradišče na Kozjaku - Sveti Duh na Ostrem Vrhu

Access to starting point:
From the road Maribor - Dravograd, before the bridge over the stream Črmenica (the stream is located a little before the settlement Ožbalt, from the direction of Dravograd somewhat after the settlement) we turn right (from the direction of Dravograd, left after the bridge) in the direction of the settlements Gradišče and Kapla and Odomovo jezero. Further on, we drive through the valley of the stream Črmenica; at the beginning of the settlement Gradišče na Kozjaku, a road branches off to the right towards Sveti Duh na Ostrem Vrhu. Here we continue straight ahead, and at the next junction we go right towards Austria. Further on, we drive past individual houses, and when we arrive at the place where we notice the red mountain markers for Sveti Duh na Ostrem Vrhu, the described path begins. At the starting point there are no arranged parking places, so we park somewhere nearby in a suitable spot.

Route description:
At the mountain direction signpost we turn sharply right onto the side road towards Sveti Duh na Ostrem Vrhu, which quickly takes us to the nearby house, behind which we continue on the marked cart track. For a short time we walk through the forest, then we continue along the edge of a larger clearing, at the end of which we return to the forest. There follow a few smaller junctions, but we continue straight ahead along the cart track, which runs alongside the stream. Higher up we leave the bed of the stream, as the markings direct us right onto the slope. A steeper ascent follows; near the pasture, which is located to the left above the path, there are a few junctions where we continue straight ahead. When the cart track widens and turns left, we go right onto the narrower marked cart track, which crosses a streamlet and then descends for a short time. We end the gentle descent when the markings direct us left uphill onto a path that ascends through the forest. Further on there are still a few junctions, where we carefully follow the markings. After some time we leave the forest and ascend along the edge of the pasture to a macadam road, along which we continue briefly. From the road, after the right bend, we go left onto a footpath that ascends transversely through the forest; after a short ascent it brings us to an asphalt road, which we follow to the left. Along the asphalt we walk to the steps, where we go right, and on them past the NOB monument and the presbytery we ascend to the church of Sv. Duha, which is located on a 904-meter-high elevation.
