In the mentioned group, we have included Strojna, which is a smaller hill range above Prevalje and Ravne na Koroškem with the highest peak Štekneč or Šteknetov vrh (1,061 m). Strojna is characterized by scattered farms, some quite large, steep meadows and pastures, and a beautiful view especially of the nearby Karawanks.
East of Strojna, already on the left bank of the Drava, rises Košenjak (1,522 m), which together with a few neighboring peaks geographically belongs to the Lavanttal Alps, most of which are in neighboring Austria. In the mentioned group are the peaks from the Vič border crossing to Mučka Bistrica, the river that flows into the Drava at Muta.
Kozjak is a hill range that rises above the left bank of the Drava and also extends into neighboring Austria. The highest peak of Kozjak, which starts in the west at Mučka Bistrica and ends in the east north of Maribor, is the 1,050 m high Kapunar, which is a popular excursion spot for local hikers.
In the mentioned group, we have also included Slovenske Gorice, which with an area slightly over 1,000 km² are the largest Slovenian hilly region. The hilly area is divided into Western Slovenske Gorice and Eastern Slovenske Gorice, also called Prlekija. Slovenske Gorice stretch from the Austrian to the Croatian border, running between the Mura River and the Drava River, only separated from Kozjak in the northwest by the Pesnica River. The highest peak of Slovenske Gorice is the 517 m high Svečinski vrh or Kamenik, while the better-known Plački vrh, just 7 meters lower, has a 28-meter-high observation tower.
