Planinski dom obrtnikov

Description of hut:
The Kozjak Mountain Hut (Planinski dom obrtnikov) stands in the immediate vicinity of Tojzlov vrh, specifically on the eastern part of the hilly Kozjak range. As the hut is surrounded by dense forest, there is no view of the surrounding areas from it, though a limited panorama opens from the restaurant terrace in front of the hut.

The story of the hut's construction began in the mid-1950s, when Maribor craftsmen and members of the then PD Obrtnik (today PD Kozjak) sought a suitable location for a mountain shelter. A key step was taken in 1956, when a local resident known as Šorijeva generously donated her land for the building.
With extensive voluntary work and contributions from local craftsmen, the hut quickly took shape and officially opened its doors on 1 May 1961. Over the decades the hut underwent some organizational changes; in 1988 ownership passed to the Maribor Craftsmen Association, which thoroughly modernized the facility and, after a brief renovation in 1990, returned it to the care of hikers. Today the hut remains a popular spot that, despite the updates, retains its authentic mountain atmosphere.
