Access to starting point:
From the Vipava expressway we turn off at the Vipava exit. After leaving the expressway, we continue on the old road in the direction of Vipava. Even before we arrive in the town, a marked road branches off to the right towards the village of Gradišče pri Vipavi. We then ascend through the village and follow the signs for Kamp Tura and Gradiška Tura. When we ascend above the village, we arrive at the mentioned camp and a larger parking lot, where we park.
Route description:
From the parking lot we head onto the path in the direction of Gradiška Tura and Abram. Initially a wide and gently sloping path quickly brings us to the first junction, where we continue straight (right St. Miklavž). After a few more steps we arrive at the scree, over which we diagonally ascend onto the bush-covered slopes. The path continues to ascend ever more steeply and soon brings us to a junction, where the very demanding Furlanova path branches off to the left, while we continue right on the usual, significantly easier but still partly demanding path. Only a few minutes further along this path we arrive at the place where the very demanding Otmarjeva ferrata branches off to the right, while our path immediately after that crosses a short but well-secured exposed ledge, after which we ascend onto the panoramic Oltar. From Oltar we continue on the steep path, which is in places secured with a steel cable or pitons. The steepness then gradually decreases and the path brings us to the place where the climbing path rejoins us from the left. We continue on the path which occasionally still ascends quite steeply over some shorter rocky jump. A little below the summit on a rock we notice an interesting verse, after which after a few steps we step onto the summit of Gradiška Tura.
Gradišče pri Vipavi - Gradiški zatrep 0:05, Gradiški zatrep - branch to Furlan path 0:15, branch to Furlan path - junction with Furlan path 0:30, junction with Furlan path - Gradiška Tura 0:35.

Along the route: Gradiški zatrep (286m), Odcep Furlanove poti (385m), Odcep Otmarjeve poti (468m), Priključek Furlanove poti (524m), Priključek Otmarjeve poti (688m)

Discussion about the trip Gradišče pri Vipavi - Gradiška Tura (easier variant)

Saturday 7.3.2009.. Chose the climbing route. For those used to alpine via ferratas, ''piece of cake''.. Continued to Abram and back via Plaz to the starting point. Nice trip in nice weather.

Saturday 7.3.2009. The Saturday trip along the described path was pleasant. The path to the junction where the climbing and hiking paths meet is a bit steeper. The view of the valley is magnificent, especially in nice weather as it was on Saturday.Recommended to all who like somewhat steeper and partly climbing paths.

We two also hiked the easier variant of Gradiška Tura on Saturday, continuing to Abram and to Vojkova koča and return along the lower path past the hunting hut and descent towards Gradišče. Very nice trip, magnificent views.

This trail should not be underestimated either, especially by less experienced hikers. From the starting point of both trails to the end it drags on a bit.

Can someone tell me if this tour is quite demanding? I'd go with my wife, but she's more of a beginner.

There are some steel cables, but the path is actually very easy. Only the descent is tricky because there's lots of scree on the ground and you have to watch how and where you step.

Thanks. Is it suitable for older children, around 15 years? Or is it safer if my wife and I go alone?

If you've hiked the steep path to Nanos, there won't be problems. The easier variant of Gradiška Tura and the steep path to Nanos are quite comparable, except of course the views, which from the steep path are incomparable to the easier variant of Gradiška Tura... I think it's suitable also for older children - for everyone of course with a via ferrata kit and obligatory helmet... And enjoy the ascent and nice rest on the way...

hi! I thought of going up Furlanova pot to the mountains and back easier variant. Would that return (on that path) be possible? Thanks in advance!

The two of us climbed the footpath today. It's routed steeply all the way. Near the chapel of St. Nicholas. Some snow on top. Afternoon almost calm. We descended the same path and went to the chapel too. In dusk to the campsite start. Never happened to me to see hawks flying there. And Triglav was visible from the top of Gradiška Tura. Clear sky.
