Hunting lodge LD Libeliče - Šteharski vrh (Šteharnikov vrh)

Access to starting point:
A) From Slovenj Gradec or the Mežiška valley we drive to Dravograd, then still before the bridge over the Drava River we turn left towards the settlements Črneče and Libeliče. Continuing, we first cross the Meža River, then drive through Črneče and later also through Gorče. After Gorče we arrive in Libeliče, where at the chapel we continue left. The asphalt road then gradually brings us into Ridlov jarek, where it begins to ascend, at the crossroads following the signs for the hunting cottage (lovska koča) or hunting lodge (lovski dom) Libeliče. We park on the marked parking lot about 100 meters before the hunting lodge.
B) We drive to Dravograd, then continue driving towards Slovenj Gradec. Soon after the bridge over the Drava River, we turn right towards the settlements Črneče and Libeliče. Continuing, we first cross the Meža River, then drive through Črneče and later also through Gorče. After Gorče we arrive in Libeliče, where at the chapel we continue left. The asphalt road then gradually brings us into Ridlov jarek, where it begins to ascend, at the crossroads following the signs for the hunting cottage (lovska koča) or hunting lodge (lovski dom) Libeliče. We park on the marked parking lot about 100 meters before the hunting lodge.
C) Via the border crossings Ljubelj or Jezerski vrh we drive to Austria, then follow the signs for Pliberk / Bleiburg and further to the settlement Labot / Lavamünd. Before the settlement Labot, still before crossing the Drava River, the signs for Potoče / Bach and Libeliče / Leifling direct us right onto a somewhat narrower road. Continuing, we drive through the settlement Potoče, behind it soon via the border crossing Libeliče we arrive in Slovenia, where we drive under the parish church in Libeliče, past the fire station, after the fire station at the chapel the road to Dravograd turns left, and we continue straight, so gradually arriving in Ridlov graben, where the road begins to ascend, at the crossroads following the signs for the hunting cottage (lovska koča) or hunting lodge (lovski dom) Libeliče. We park on the marked parking lot about 100 meters before the hunting lodge.

Path description:
From the starting point, we walk to the nearby hunting lodge LD Libeliče, which we bypass on the right side and ascend on a somewhat worse road to the nearby farm, where the road changes into a cart track. After the farm the cart track turns right, on panoramic hayfields back towards the left. For a short time we still continue amid nice views reaching from Košenjak across Dravograd to Pohorje, then the cart track enters the forest, where at a smaller intersection it widens into a forest road.
We continue straight, at the next intersection slightly left. When we leave the forest again, we quickly arrive at the Gampret homestead, from where a nice view already opens onto the wooded Šteharski vrh. Behind the homestead the road returns to the forest and gradually begins to descend. A few minutes of gentle to moderate descent follow, then the road, from which we occasionally still get some views, begins to ascend to an intersection of several roads.
From the intersection we continue straight onto the cart track (the left road leads towards the church of St. Cross, the right road towards Ravne na Koroškem, sharp right the road by which we can arrive at Strojna or Libeliče), on which we begin to ascend more steeply, continuing the ascent all the way to the point where we join the marked path that starts at Ravne na Koroškem.
We continue straight and in a few dozen steps of gentle ascent reach Šteharski vrh.
