Kočna - Boršt (via Vrše)

Access to starting point:
From the highway Ljubljana - Jesenice we take the exit Lipce, where we turn left in the direction of Blejska Dobrava and Spodnje Gorje. Soon after driving past the railway underpass, we are at the next crossroad, where we turn right - Bled, Kočna. Initially the serpentine road ascends straight towards the west and soon in the left bend reaches the top or settlement Kočna. Our starting point is located on the left side of the road, a few meters before the settlement sign. Because of the continuous line we drive ahead past the first houses, where on the right we notice the bus stop. Here we turn around and return back, almost to the bend before we would descend back into the valley. We park on the macadam parking lot.

Path description:
From the starting point, we head back along the road towards the settlement. After 250 m, a few meters before the bus stop we turn right onto the narrower side, asphalted road on our left, which takes us past a few houses uphill. When after the left turn the road flattens and loses the asphalt surface, it brings us to a larger meadow. We continue along the cart track, which initially veers slightly left and ascends slightly along the edge of the forest past the pasture on the right. Quite soon we find ourselves on the saddle between two peaks - Žerjavcem and Vršami, where there is a junction. Here we turn sharply right onto the first (initially gravel) path, which ascends uphill (the second is a gentle path to Blejska Dobrava). After a short ascent we come across a bench, and continue on this path, which narrows and ascends somewhat more steeply towards the summit of Vrše. Then, when the path turns left and the gradient eases, we can enjoy the view of Koroška Bela and Javorniški Rovt. Shortly we enter a mixed woodland, through which the path after a short and gentle ascent brings us to the summit of the 850 m high hill Vrše, where straight ahead (towards the south) its neighbor, our target peak - Boršt, appears before our eyes. We therefore continue along the path, which descends the grassy slope. When the path soon turns right downhill towards the northwest, we leave it and continue straight ahead, slightly uphill (ignoring the path into the forest on the left), where we notice a trail that brings us into the forest in a few steps. Soon the initially followable path turns slightly left, then apparently disappears, so we must pay attention to the markers (red lines) on the trees. Then, when the path here only slightly descends over a few steps, at the second marker it turns sharply right, and after a short flat section (again followable) descends the forested slope. Only a gentle ascent follows, after which the path, turning slightly left, brings us to the forest logging trail. When we step onto it, we head left uphill towards the southeast. Just before the logging trail is supposed to bring us out of the forest to the start of a large clearing, we leave it and turn sharply right onto the other (logging trail), which steeply ascends the eastern slope of Boršt towards its summit. Here we may notice a "Notice" to hikers on the trunk of one of the spruces. Continuing the steep ascent, we keep to the right side of the "marked direction" mentioned in the notice, which means we do not walk along the logging trail the whole time, but occasionally along the track to its right, which is somewhat trodden all the way to the summit (walking along the logging trail also brings us to the goal). Since the summit of Boršt does not offer a special view into the valley, we can enjoy it on the eastern slope, a few meters lower. Here we can take in the view from Pustega rovta on the left, across the Karawanks and part of the Kamnik Alps, and the wide Ljubljana Basin, to the slopes of Jelovica on the right.
