Access to starting point:
From the highway Ljubljana - Jesenice, take the exit Lipce and follow the road ahead in the direction of Jesenice. When we come to the traffic-light intersection, where we join the old road, we continue right in the direction of Žirovnica. We follow this road only a short time, because at the next slightly larger crossroad (traffic light) we continue left in the direction of Javorniški Rovt. The road then goes through the underpass (railway) and then turns left (right Koroška Bela). We follow the road, which higher up starts to ascend steeply, in the direction of Javorniški Rovt. The road ahead runs past the mountain hut Dom Pristava (the mountain hut is a little above the road) and behind the hut we come to the next (smaller) crossroad, where we go right. Ahead we drive on a macadam road all the way to Križovec, which we recognize by the crossroad of multiple roads (by the crossroad there are a few smaller parking spots and a cross).
Route description:
From the parking lot, we go sharply right (direction of arrival) on the road by which there is a cross. The road then runs past a gate and then ascends gently through the forest. After less than 15 minutes of walking, the marked path from the mountain hut Dom Pristava joins us from the right side. We continue left and the path brings us to the pastures of Pustega Rovta, where we will notice two cottages on the left side.
We continue past the mentioned cottages to the other side of the mountain pasture, where the road turns right and then in a few minutes brings us to the crossroad at the torrent. We head onto the right road, which crosses the cart track towards the saddle Kočna (left Golica). Ahead we again encounter a gate, which we bypass on the left side. Only a few dozen meters ahead, the path is stopped by another gate. The road ahead ascends in a traverse towards the east, mostly through the forest. A few minutes before the mountain pasture, the road emerges from the forest onto the grazing areas of Struška and makes a sharp left turn, from which we have only a few steps to the hut on the mountain pasture.
From the hut, we continue towards the east, initially only slightly upwards. After five minutes of walking from the hut, the path brings us to a less steep gully, where we continue left onto a poorly visible unmarked path (straight to planina Seča).
Further, we ascend along the grass-covered gully, which is surrounded by dwarf pines. The still harder-to-follow footpath at the top of this gully turns right into the expansive world of Struška. The path ahead, in a moderate ascent, crosses the southwestern slopes of Struška, which are partly covered with dwarf pines (because the path is harder to follow, we can quickly stray into the dwarf pines). A little below the summit, the "path" brings us to the ridge, which we follow to the top.
Orientation from the mountain pasture to the top is somewhat harder, in fog very difficult.

Discussion about the trip Križovec - Barentaler Kotschna/Struška (by road)

When they started building the road to Planina Svečica I was quite disappointed. But now when I go to Struška in winter, it is much more accessible than before. Of course I don't approve of the destruction of nature, but the ascent is now really easier.

As for the road, I don't like anything about it. That mountain path that runs above the road is much nicer than this road that they use for racing with motorcycles and quads. When they ride roaring to the top of Struška and disturb hikers and animals. If the road is closed, motorcyclists should respect that too!

Yeah yeah yeah, motorcyclists, quads and the rest of that RABBLE. Yes, literally, as I wrote. About three years ago I went with my daughter from Potoki village to Ajdna. You can't believe, if we hadn't moved aside (just in case), that rabble on motorcycles would have run us over. You can't imagine the brutality with which they sped around the corner on the PATH !!! Hello ?! And even higher up they wanted to fight with the forest owner who was hauling wood with a mini bulldozer, telling him to get off the path. And all ride unregistered motorcycles, police do NOTHING. And even if they catch one, the fine is a measly 20 EUR!! SHAME. And they call that a "fine". Last year police were checking "driving in natural environment..." on Krvavec in winter. Offenders were mostly doctors, surgeons,.. in short only the wealthier and instead of being fined..., if a dog poops on the lawn God forbid, it's 300 EUR ???!!! BYE STATE, BYE SENSE !!!

Has anyone been to Struška these days and can tell me first-hand what the conditions are like? Probably no issues up to Svečica.

Majda, beautiful, on all pictures I admired the most the wonderful sky with such and different clouds and extensive winter panoramas like expanded horizons.... I enjoyed it a lot. regards

Thanks, the clouds above Struška are really particularly interesting. They are also a joy to me.

Yesterday walked the path from Križovec to Seča, along the border path to the top of Struška, down to Belska planina and further to Suha saddle and back to Križovec by road. The path is without special features, quite windy at the top.. but the border path to the top is interesting, all the time among dwarf pines views all around beautiful and solitary, the whole path I met only 2 hikers
