Laško - Dom na Kališču (via Sveti Lovrenc)

Access to starting point:
a) From the Ljubljana-Jesenice motorway, take the Kranj-east exit, then continue driving towards Jezersko. When you arrive in Preddvor, leave the main road and continue left towards the centre of the mentioned place, from there follow the signs to the Bašelj settlement. When you arrive in Bašelj, at the beginning of the left bend a narrower road continues straight to the parking lot at the TD Bašelj hut (in descriptions starting point Bašelj), but we from the mentioned junction continue along the main road for another 100 m or so to the next junction, where we continue right along the road towards Gamsov raj and the Laško hamlet. Just about 50 m further, continue along the left road, which gradually begins to climb moderately. At the Laško hamlet continue left again, then the asphalt ends and we continue driving along the steep gravel road, which we follow to the parking lot next to a small junction. Red mountaineering direction signs are located at the junction.
b) From the Jesenice-Ljubljana motorway, take the Kranj-west exit and at the first junction continue left. We then drive through the underpass under the motorway, after which we arrive at a roundabout, from which we continue driving towards Golnik. The route further leads through the Mlaka pri Kranju settlement, we at the end of the settlement continue right towards the Srakovlje settlement. Driving continues through Srakovlje, Spodnja Bela, Srednja Bela, Zgornja Bela (in Zgornja Bela we join the road from Preddvor) to Bašelj, where the main road makes a long left bend, where a narrower road continues straight to the parking lot at the TD Bašelj hut (in descriptions starting point Bašelj), but we from the mentioned junction continue along the main road for another 100 m or so to the next junction, where we continue right along the road towards Gamsov raj and the Laško hamlet. Route description:
From the parking lot and junction, continue along the worse and steeper left road towards sv. Lovrenc and Dom pod Sv. Lovrencem (straight Kališče and Storžič, to Storžič and Kališče it is also possible by continuing left). From the junction onwards we ascend relatively steeply, during the ascent a marked footpath branches off to the right, leading directly to the sv. Lovrenc church and bypassing Dom pod Lovrencem. All the time continue along the road, from which higher up some views temporarily open. When the road after some time turns sharply right, it brings us in a few steps to the aforementioned Dom pod Lovrencem.
From the hut continue towards Javornik, Velika and Mala Poljana, Kališče and Storžič, along a path that moderately ascends through the forest. The well-trodden path quickly takes us out of the forest onto a vast hayfield, across which we walk with beautiful views to the sv. Lovrenc church.
Continue along the meadow past the church and the path soon takes us into the forest. Further on, the wide path gently descends and brings us to an indistinct saddle, where a path joins from the right leading past the monument, and from the left paths join from starting points at Babni Vrh and Povlje.
Further continue towards Storžič still along the wide path, which however gently ascends. The path soon becomes narrower and then steeply ascends through the forest for quite some time. Higher up the path takes us out of the forest and beautiful views open onto the southern slopes of Storžič. The steepness continues unabated all the way to the bench at the junction.
Left leads the marked path towards Javornik and Poljana, we however head right towards Kališče. From the junction the path becomes somewhat narrower and less trodden. Further on we traverse the slopes eastwards for a long time. Along the path forest and grassy slopes alternate, which in places are quite steep. During the traverse the path occasionally ascends somewhat more steeply, a few times it also gently descends. In the second part of the traverse the path brings us to the spring below Bašeljsko sedlo. Here the path turns slightly right and continues traversing the slopes until it brings us to a marked junction, where we continue right towards Dom na Kališču (left Storžič, straight or slightly left Bašeljski vrh and Mali Grintovec).
From the junction onwards follows walking along a wide panoramic ridge, along which we arrive at Dom na Kališču in a few minutes.
