Mače - Planina Dolga njiva (Mačenska pot)

Access to starting point:
A) From the Ljubljana–Jesenice motorway take the Kranj–east exit, then continue driving in the direction of Jezersko. When we arrive in Preddvor we leave the main road and continue driving left towards the centre of the mentioned place, from there we follow the signs for Mače. When we arrive in Mače, at the marked intersection we continue right (left Bašelj, straight church of St. Miklavž (the church is not accessible by car)) and drive on the narrow road above the village, where there is a larger marked parking lot.
B) From the Jesenice–Ljubljana motorway take the Kranj–west exit and at the first intersection continue left. We then drive through the underpass under the motorway, then arrive at the roundabout, from which we continue driving in the direction of Golnik. The route ahead leads through the settlement of Mlaka pri Kranju, and at the end of the settlement we continue right in the direction of the settlement Srakovlje. This is followed by driving through Srakovlje, Spodnja Bela, Srednja Bela to Zgornja Bela, where we continue right towards Preddvor. In Preddvor we notice signs for Mače, which direct us left past the primary school onto the road that climbs to Mače. When we arrive in Mače, at the marked intersection we continue right (left Bašelj, straight church of St. Miklavž (the church is not accessible by car)) and drive on the narrow road above the village, where there is a larger marked parking lot.

Path description:
At the end of the parking lot we will notice blazes that direct us onto a wide cart track, which initially ascends gently. The cart track has some smaller junctions at the beginning, we keep somewhat to the right and continue all the time on the marked path. Higher up the cart track steepens briefly several times, then brings us to signposts, where we continue left in the direction of Hudičev boršt.
At the signposts we leave the cart track and continue the ascent on the marked footpath, which starts to ascend ever more steeply through increasingly dense forest. Higher up the forest thins out, and the path brings us out of the forest onto increasingly panoramic grassy slopes of Zaplata, where we can already see Hudičev boršt ahead of us. Here the path ascends steeply once more, then joins the path sv. Jakob - Kališče. Here we continue left in the direction of Kališče and Srednji vrh (right shelter in Hudičev boršt 3 minutes) on the path that crosses the grassy slopes of Zaplata towards the west. After a few minutes of crossing the path enters the forest, where we soon reach the next marked junction.
This time we continue right in the direction of Cjanovce, Srednji vrh and Mali Grintovec (straight mountain hut Dom na Kališču and one of the paths by which we can descend to Mače) on the path that starts to ascend more steeply through the forest. The fairly steep path higher up brings us into a small valley, where the forest thins out and the path levels off. After a few minutes of walking along the said valley the path turns right, ascends more steeply and after a short ascent brings us to the hut on Dolga njiva.
