Medijske toplice - Kalanov hrib (Kalanček) (via Reber)

Access to starting point:
On the regional road Trojane - Izlake, we turn right immediately when we see the sign for Izlake and park on the parking lot of the former complex of Medijske toplice.

Path description:
Because of the larger parking space, I describe the following path, although it is also possible to park at the sports field in Izlake and continue the path through Gladež, where we join the path described below:
At the parking lot at Medijske toplice we leave the car and head towards the sandy part of the parking lot, where we see two paths into the forest. We take the right path and continue along the trail to the edge of the meadow, where we turn left. We walk along the edge of the forest and cross the meadow until we reach a macadam road. On it, we turn left towards the southeast and continue along it to the Prašnikar farm. There we turn right uphill and follow the forest road all the way to the bend where the road turns sharply right (path via Zg. Rovn), but we continue straight ahead on the forest path. On the left side there is also a tree with a trail blaze. We follow the path all the way to the junction with the path from Medijski grad, after which follows a 15-minute ascent along the ridge of Kalanov hrib. The path leads us to a gentle summit, where a view opens towards Menina, Golte and Čemšeniška planina. We continue straight onto a large clearing, where by the ruins of the old Kalanček house a logbook box awaits us and offers a view of Zasavsko hribovje.
There are several return paths. We can descend to the south side of the meadow and continue downhill towards Medijski grad and the chapel with the mortal remains of Janez Vajkard Valvasor, then continue around the hill on a forest path, where we also see the famous Valvazorjev rov, which is supposed to connect Medijske toplice and Medijski grad. The path leads us to a macadam road that takes us back to our ascent starting point.
We can also return via Anžlovar, where behind the ruins of the old house we turn onto a forest path that leads us to Anžlovar, where we turn right downhill and reach the settlement Podlipovica.
