Mejni prehod Lipica - Kokoš (steep way)

Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Koper motorway we take the Divača exit and continue on the road towards the villages Lokev and Lipica. We drive through the village Lokev after which we soon reach a crossroads where the road branches off to the right towards the village Lipica. Here we continue straight towards Italy. Just before the border crossing (near the casino) we park in the gravel parking lot. Parking in front of the casino is allowed only for guests.

Route description:
Between the parking lot and the border crossing we will notice a gravel road that branches off to the left from the main road. After a few steps we will notice hiking signs for Kokoš along this road. We continue on the road which barely rises noticeably and after about 30 minutes of ascent the path brings us to a marked junction. We continue right in the direction of "Kokoš steep way" (straight to Kokoš on the road) on a path that starts to ascend more steeply through the forest. Higher up the path leaves the forest and crosses a small scree after which it levels out. Further along the path we notice border stones and a little further a sign with the inscription "attention state border".
We continue on the Slovenian side on the marked trail which starts to descend slightly and after a few minutes joins the forest road which we left lower down. We continue slightly right and follow the gentle road all the way to the top of Kokoš where the mountain hut stands.
