Access to starting point:
Leave the Gorenjska motorway (Ljubljana–Jesenice) at the Lipce exit (or Hrušica) and follow the road towards Jesenice. In the town, signs for Planina pod Golico direct us right (or left if coming from Hrušica) onto an ascending road (the junction is marked and located near the Jesenice Health Centre). The relatively steep road soon leads to the mentioned village, where in May we can admire the blooming narcissi on the surrounding meadows. From Planina pod Golico continue driving to the next junction with numerous mountain signposts. Turn right towards Golica, then after the end of the settlement drive another good 50 metres to the parking area below the Savske jame.
Route description:
From the parking area we walk back a few dozen steps and head towards Kmečki turizem Betel (if we continue up the road we can reach Golica via the path past Korlnov rov or via Savske jame). A short ascent on the asphalt road follows and we soon reach Kmečki turizem Betel; after it we turn right from the junction towards Golica.
A few minutes higher we reach the hut Pri Fencu (Apartments Pri Fencu); here we watch for the marked path branching right that starts behind the apartments.
We continue on the wide marked path that first climbs across a small meadow, then enters a narrow strip of forest and a little higher a dense forest. About 15 minutes of ascent through the forest follows, guided near a stream, after which we reach a gravel road that we follow to the right. We walk along it to the marked junction at the lower station of the freight cable car leading to Koča na Golici.
Here we join the previously mentioned path that leads past Korlnov rov, but we continue only a little further left towards Koča na Golici and Golica, where the path immediately branches again.
At the lower station of the freight cable car we notice a directional sign reading "zimska pot" that directs us slightly left into the forest (slightly right leads the usual summer path). Our path ascends transversely, then enters a belt of sparse forest where it crosses a short, slightly avalanche-prone slope. We then step into a gully that we follow only briefly, as the markings soon direct us left onto a steep, forest-covered slope. After a few minutes the steepness eases and we reach a side ridge where the path turns right. We ascend the ridge, which later even descends slightly, then leads us to a steep step. We climb straight up to the middle of the step, after which we have two options for continuing: we can head slightly right along an exposed ledge (risk of slipping) or continue straight on steep, partly rocky terrain (both options are exposed to avalanche and slip risk).
Only a little higher the two paths rejoin and lead us over increasingly scenic terrain to Koča na Golici.
From the hut onwards the winter route also usually runs somewhat differently from the summer one. From the hut we ascend northwards on an increasingly steep slope straight up (we avoid the direct ascent to the summit of Golica because of avalanche danger). When we are almost on the main ridge we turn slightly left and in a gentle transverse ascent reach the saddle between Krvavka on the right and Golica on the left. Another approximately 15-minute walk along the exceptionally scenic and in winter often icy ridge follows to the summit of Golica.

Starting point – lower station of the freight cable car 0:35, lower station of the freight cable car – Koča na Golici 1:00, Koča na Golici – Golica 0:45.

We tramped this about a month ago (post published on the forum with pictures) and we diligently tramped the whole path, someone ahead of us walked only with snowshoes, we broke trail to prove our manhood and womanhood nasmeh worth every drop of sweat, as the views were divine.
Best regards, Matevž

Otherwise, the winter path is even in summer conditions nicer, more interesting, more scenic, varied than the summer one, which is usually -especially on weekends- teeming with visitors.
If possible, I avoid the crowds, that's why I always go on the winter path.
bobo21. 01. 2010
Has anyone been up there recently? Is it normally passable?
Best regards.

I was there on 3.1.2010 and it was quite well trodden, not much snow because it's blown away, only the path is a bit awkwardly laid out, so I descended from the top preferably through the valley between Krvavko and G. The ascent direction (hut-summit) is too steep for descent, blown clean, partly on steep icy grasses..(laid out a bit too much to the left), otherwise everyone can choose and make a suitable track for themselves, as there is no deep snow.
Lower part of the path - to the hut o.k.
Recommended!

Today I planned to go to Golica, but at the top of Krvavka I lost motivation for the further path. I went to the hut via the winter path, from the hut I descended via the summer one - no avalanche danger. In these conditions, the winter path is very suitable for ascent, as there is a lot of drifted snow on the summer path, but it's excellent for descent. At the lower cable car station there are sunglasses on the wall.

Today I went to the hut, for the summit in my opinion the conditions are not good yet. Crampons stayed in the backpack, in places it sank considerably, otherwise just a bit of gymnastics in the gully where the marked path crosses the stream. A few fallen trees are not obstacles. Some pictures here http://stezeinsledi.blogspot.com/

@edina Very nice description and pictures. More of those nasmeh
Golica will probably wait another month.

..
Our most attractive path to Golica, we have secured with steel cable using 4 double step bolts, two single ones and one handhold. We plan to also install ladders and drainage on part of this path.

Today I went up the winter path. I couldn't reach the hut, because on the rocky part it's hard to find the path if you're going for the first time and alone and don't know it. There's already a lot of snow, sometimes up to 50 cm. It's visible that no one has gone to the top via the winter path in recent days, because tracks in the snow after the first

...in short the path is a bit dangerous at this timenasmeh

Thanks for the comment as I was just thinking of going up there..

Past Betel is currently not possible. But the path past Korlnov rov is pleasant. The winter path is well marked and there are enough safety features on the rocky sections. Nice path.nasmeh

Past Betel to Fenc is a nice, asphalted road. The winter path is well marked, for descent there are red ribbons at key points. The fixed ropes over the rocks are fine, you get over quickly. Pleasant path, and beautiful at the top as always.nasmeh

The winter path is very well marked as is the entire path from Savske jame, markings renewed. There's still some snow at the top but crampons stayed in the backpack as the track was safe. Very nice path and great views. Good luck. Regards

Wonderful day on Golica, warm and sunny almost all the time. There is still some snow on the top, the winter path is completely snow-free. Winter gear is a matter of course, but this time it all stayed in the backpack. Safe stepping. Regards

Also today nice weather, but very windy at the top. The winter path is bare and dry. At the top of Golica still some patches of wet snow. Also along the ridge towards Jekljevo sedlo bare, the path from there back to the hut on Golica too, so you can already make a nice loopnasmeh

Down the winter path, through Markeljnova planina.
The path past Korlnov rov is muddy and slippery. The winter one is mostly dry, a bit slippery on rocks due to muddy shoes. On Golica, mist and sun were chasing each other. Narcissi are blooming high under Krvavka. Most of them are under Mala Golica. They will adorn the meadows for the whole week, if it doesn't get too hot. Have a nice time, I did..nasmeh

30.5 conditions on Golica and Krvavka excellent. To lovers of uncrowded peaks I recommend a rest on Krvavka. :-) Narcissi nicely adorn the slopes as always. Safe steps. LP
