Planinarski dom Kalnik - Vranilac (Kalnik) (via 7 zubi)

Access to starting point:
From the Zagreb - Varaždin motorway, take the Sveta Helena exit, then follow the road towards Vrbovec. The motorway (in 2012 only half-built, still under construction) takes us to the village of Gradac, where we turn right towards Sveti Ivan Žabno, from where we continue towards Križevci. From Križevci onwards, orientation is easy, as the mountain hut and Stari grad Veliki Kalnik are visible from afar. We reach the mentioned mountain hut without major difficulties by car, which we park in the large parking lot near the hut.

Path description:
7 teeth (7 zubi) is the name of the path along the rocky ridge of Kalnik between Stari grad and the summit. The path is in alpine style, i.e., with considerable rock climbing and little protection (the path has only one bolt and one peg).
From the hut we go down the road to the forest entrance at the information board. From there the first tooth is still visible, to which we arrive through the forest.
We can climb to the first tooth via the right easier and very interesting path, which leads through a natural window. The left path is somewhat harder and exposed in places.
From the first tooth we continue west and descend via a very demanding path to the south side of the tooth, where there are some free-climbing routes. After descending from the first tooth we are already at the second tooth, to which we climb without major difficulties and descend similarly to the spot between the second and third tooth. Here the path splits again into left easier and right harder (the left easier path can be easily overlooked). Continuing on the right more demanding path, we quickly reach a steep and exposed section. Higher the path leaves the rocks onto steep grassy slopes, over which we ascend to the third tooth. From the third tooth a nice view opens, and we continue on the path that begins to descend steeply (descent from the third tooth is quite demanding).
After the descent the path takes us to a narrow passage, at the top of which we arrive from the northern slope to the southern slopes. Here a view of the fourth tooth opens before us, and we climb to it via a very interesting path leading steeply up a chimney (chimney ascent is very demanding, but can be avoided by continuing left on the steep slope before the chimney). After climbing the chimney the path levels and leads to the fourth tooth.
From the fourth to the fifth tooth runs a ridge path, very exposed in one place (the exposed ridge section can be bypassed to the right), but technically not too demanding.
Continuing from the fifth to the sixth tooth we reach a junction where to the right a path branches off that later joins path No. 2 (path from Ljubelj to Vranilac), to the left an unmarked trail leads to the TV tower or nearby asphalt road. From the junction continue straight and after a few rocky jumps ascend to the sixth tooth (ascent to the sixth tooth is not particularly demanding).
The seventh tooth is very interesting not only for hikers but also for climbers. Access from the sixth to the seventh tooth is relatively easy, but the others are technically very demanding. For descent I recommend the easier southern path, as it is most suitable for descent (the harder southern path is better for ascent (both southern descents are newly made, as the one descending north from the tooth is even harder)).
Regardless of where we descended from the seventh tooth, go west and in two minutes of further walking arrive at the summit of Vranilac.
The path can also be hiked in the opposite direction, ascending Vranilac via the normal path and descending via the 7 teeth path.
