Vranilac (Kalnik)

Description of mountain:
Kalnik is a hill range located between Križevci, Novi Marof, Varaždin, and Koprivnica. It is not among the highest mountains by elevation, but the abundance of hiking trails and diverse landscape set it apart from surrounding hills. The mountain is gentler from the north and drops steeply to the valley from the south. Kalnik is said to be the last or first mountain in the Karavanke range. Forest covers the mountain almost entirely, except for some rocky cliffs on the south side. From Kalnik's summit, despite its relatively low elevation, there is a fine view that extends far around in good weather. A mountain hut lies 15 minutes below the summit, near the Old Castle of Veliki Kalnik. Kalnik is also known for several climbing routes.
