Access to starting point:
A) First, we drive to Kranjska Gora, and then we continue driving towards Rateče. In the settlement Podkoren we turn left, and after the bridge over the river Sava Dolinka we join cycling road which we follow to the right, and there we can drive only to the nearby parking lot, where we park.
B) Over the border crossing Rateče we drive to Slovenia, and then we drive towards Kranjska Gora. In the settlement Podkoren we turn right, and after the bridge over the river Sava Dolinka we join cycling road which we follow to the right, and there we can drive only to the nearby parking lot, where we park.
Path description:
From the parking lot, we continue on cycling road towards Rateče, and soon from the right joins the path from Zelenci. Further, we walk through a lane of a forest, where we cross a torrent, and when we leave the forest on the left we notice pasture and some wooden cottages. Here we leave cycling road and on a cart track we continue to the near cottage, from the cottage ahead we continue slightly right towards the edge of the forest. The path ahead leads us by the edge of the forest and then the footpath becomes more distinct, and at the crossings we follow the signs for Planica. Further, the path leads us through some meadows, from which a beautiful view opens up on surrounding mountains, and at the crossings we still follow the signs for Planica and Tamar. Higher, the path leads also past a smaller ski slope, and then we get to Dom Planica, where we continue right and past parking lots we walk to Nordic centre Planica.
From Planica we continue on a macadam road towards the mountain hut Dom v Tamarju, and before the road passes into the forest it splits into two parts. We continue on a slightly right road in the direction of the footpath towards Tamar (slightly left driving road which is closed for public traffic).
The path ahead leads us on the road which past the last parking lot of NC Planica passes into the forest and which is in the winter time converted into a cross country ski trail. Next follows an ascent on a gently sloping road which mostly runs through the forest, and when the path leaves the forest, by the path are peepholes with signs what is seen. Higher forest several times gets thinner or we leave it for some time, so that beautiful views are opening up on mountains, which are rising above Planica and Tamar. When we already get quite close to the mountain hut Dom v Tamarju a breathtaking view opens up also on Jalovec, and the path splits.
We continue slightly left (slightly right source of Nadiža) and about a minute ahead we join the driving road, and there past a chapel we get to the mountain hut.
