Rifugio Nordio - Gozman (via Sella Pleccia)

Access to starting point:
We drive to Trbiž / Tarvisio, which is only a few kilometers after the national border on the Italian side of the border crossing Rateče. To Trbiž / Tarvisio we can also come from Austria, where we first have to drive to Beljak / Villach and then over the border crossing Thori-Coccau to Trbiž / Tarvisio. In Trbiž / Tarvisio we follow the signs for Videm / Udine on the old road (not the highway). Soon after Trbiž / Tarvisio we come to the village Ukve / Ugovizza, where we turn right into the center of the village. In the middle of the village we come to a stream, where an upwards mountain road branches off by the stream, which is asphalted. On this road we drive to an intersection, where we go straight (right), immediately after that intersection we come to the next, where we go left. This road, which is mostly asphalted, we follow to the mountain hut Rifugio Nordio, where we park on the parking lot at the mountain hut.

Path description:
A little below the mountain hut Nordio a worse macadam road branches off to the right, which ascends on the left side of the right stream. Already after a few steps of walking a cart track branches off to the left from the road, which then ascends parallel with the road. After five minutes of walking the cart track goes into the forest and turns into a footpath.
The path starts to ascend steeply and brings us past the abandoned shack to a spring. Only a little further we come to a smaller mountain pasture on which an old shepherd hut stands.
Further the steepness decreases a little, and the path runs through the forest with some smaller clearings. Then we cross a torrent gully, and the path after that quickly comes out of the forest. There follows only a few minutes of walking to a saddle, where we encounter signposts and the end of the forest road which comes from Austria.
Here we turn left onto grassy slopes surrounded by thin forest. The path ascends moderately and after 15 minutes of ascent from the saddle brings us to the chapel of Marija Snežna.
Further the path slightly descends and brings us to grassy slopes. Here we leave the marked path and turn left onto a poorly beaten path which ascends up the slope. After a few minutes of walking the steepness decreases and in front of us we see the peak to which we have only a few dozen meters of easy walking.
In fog the orientation of the path in the last section is difficult.
