Rifugio Ra Stua - Rifugio Biella / Seekofel Hütte

Access to starting point:
Via the border crossing Rateče we drive to Trbiž / Tarvisio, where we head onto the motorway in the direction of Udine. We leave the motorway at the Tolmezzo exit and follow the road to the mentioned place. From Tolmezzo we continue in the direction of the settlement Ampezzo and the mountain pass Passo della Mauria. The road then starts descending and brings us into the Cadore valley, where we continue right (left to Belluno and Cortina d'Ampezzo) in the direction of the settlement Auronzo. After a few more km of driving we come to the next larger intersection, where we turn right in the direction of Misurina (left to the Tre Croci pass). From here we descend along the road to a larger intersection where we continue left towards Cortina d'Ampezzo (right to Austria). From the mentioned intersection we continue approximately another 10 km towards Cortina d'Ampezzo, then in a sharp left bend we turn right onto the road to the mountain hut Rifugio Ra Stua. We follow the narrow asphalt road all the way to the large parking lot at the hut.

Path description:
From the mountain hut Rifugio Ra Stua we continue on a macadam road which is closed to traffic. Already right at the start, a footpath branches off to the right towards the notch Forcella Lerosa and the Gotres valley. A little later, the path towards the Valbones valley and the bivouac Helbig Dall'Oglio also branches off to the right.
We continue along the gently sloping macadam road, which for some time still runs along pastures, then brings us into the forest. Further on, we walk through the forest along the Boite stream for a while, then reach grassy slopes again where there is also a junction.
To the left, the road to the mountain hut Rifugio Fodara Vedla branches off, while we continue straight on the macadam road towards the mountain hut Rifugio Sennes. After just a few dozen meters, we reach another junction.
This time we turn right onto the footpath towards Lago di Foses lake and the Rifugio Biella hut, while the road ahead leads to the Rifugio Sennes hut. From the junction, the path first takes us across grassy slopes, where a footpath from the Ra Stua hut joins from the right. The path then brings us into dwarf pine scrub through which we begin to ascend more steeply. Through the dwarf pines we quickly gain height and soon views open up towards the Tofana mountain group and Monte Pelmo. Later the path turns slightly left and takes us to gentler slopes. From the dwarf pines the path leads to more grassy terrain, where a somewhat less trodden trail joins from the right, running below the slopes of Monte Geralbes peak. The increasingly scenic path here heads northwest, leading us past the smaller Lago di Remeda Rossa lake. The path then descends slightly and a view opens to Croda del Becco (Seekofel) summit. The path leads past Lago Piccolo lake and brings us to the larger Lago di Fosses lake.
At the lake where there is a junction, we continue right following the signs for »Rifugio Biella«. The path first runs along the left side of the lake and then begins to ascend gently again. When the path turns left, we reach a somewhat poorly visible junction. Here an unmarked path branches off to the right towards Forcella Cocodain notch, while we continue left on the marked path to Rifugio Biella hut.
The path continues northwest towards the slopes of Croda del Becco peak, gently ascending the mostly grassy slope all the way to the Rifugio Biella hut.
