Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Jesenice motorway, take the Lesce exit and continue towards Bled. In Bled, at the traffic lights, follow the signs for Pokljuka to the right. Continue through Gorje and past the abandoned Zatrnik ski slope to Rudno polje on Pokljuka (large parking lot, barracks and shooting range).
Path description:
At the end of the parking lot, a gravel road branches off to the right, with signposts for Triglav. Head onto this road, which gently ascends and after ten minutes of walking brings you to the Viševnik ski slope. Continue along the road, from which a marked path to Triglav soon branches off to the left.
Continue in the direction of Triglav and after a few minutes of moderate ascent arrive at a forest road, which you follow for only a few meters (it used to be possible to drive here by car). The marked path then turns right and ascends more steeply for a short time, after ten minutes the steepness eases and the path slowly leads onto steep slopes. Across the steep slopes the path mostly gently descends and increasingly turns right. A bit further on, you will notice Planina Konjščica to the left below. Our path then stops descending and leads from the forest into the scrub. The path, which ascends again, takes us under steep cliffs and soon to a junction where we join the path from Planina Konjščica.
From here a short ascent follows and the path leads to a beautiful little valley called Jezerce, where it forks. There are signposts here directing left (right Srenjski preval, Viševnik Blejska koča na Lipanci...) and our initially gentle path leads to the spring below Studorski preval. After the spring the path gradually steepens, higher up from the left side of the torrent it crosses to the right side, where we reach a grassy slope; the path we ascend is still rocky. An ascent in a few switchbacks follows and we climb to Studorski preval, from which a nice view opens to the mountains above Bohinj.
Here a demanding path from Srenjski preval joins from the right, and from our path unmarked trails also branch off to Ablanca and Veliki Draški vrh.
From the saddle we first descend steeply for a short time, then the path turns right and we traverse the slopes to the left for a long time with some shorter easy ascents and descents. From the slopes of Veliki Draški vrh we gradually reach the slopes of the massive Tosc, continuing amidst nice views past the turn-off to Tosc and the junction where the path from Uskovnica joins from the left.
At all junctions, also the one where the partly abandoned path via Planina Zgornji Tosc joins, continue straight; the path gradually leads to steeper and also precipitous southwest slopes of Mt. Tosc, where there was a landslide some years ago, so extra caution is needed due to falling rocks. Across the precipitous section runs a fairly wide path, so there are no special difficulties here, and when the slope becomes less steep the path from Stara Fužina or Voje Valley joins from the left.
Continue straight on the wider marked path towards Triglav, which continues north along the western slopes of Tosc; the still gentle path leads across some scree to Vodnikov dom na Velem polju, where the next junction is.
Here too continue straight towards Triglav; the path begins to ascend transversely along the slopes of Vernar, higher up becoming technically demanding. Some traversing follows, aided by a fixed cable, higher we reach a steep step where we ascend rocky steps with the aid of numerous pegs and a fixed cable.
Ahead the path levels out, the slope becomes less steep and near Konjsko sedlo also somewhat more grassy.
We easily descend to Konjsko sedlo; from the marked junction at the saddle head straight on the path towards Triglavski dom na Kredarici and Staničev dom pod Triglavom (left Dom Planika pod Triglavom, right Krma Valley), a few steps further the path forks again.
Continue slightly left towards Kredarica (slightly right Dom Valentina Staniča) and continue traversing across numerous gullies, where crossing them is generally not demanding. Further the path becomes technically more difficult and on some sections fixed protections assist safer progress, mainly cables, some pegs.
At an elevation of just under 2300 m we join the technically easier path from Krma Valley, continuing left towards Kredarica and Triglav.
A few minutes further when the path levels more, a path branches left past Snežne konte and over Štapce towards Dom Planika pod Triglavom; we continue right, first quite gently then ascending to the ridge above Vrh Snežne konte, the summit of which we viewed from below during the ascent over Kalvarija.
Here the path steepens again and we follow it to Triglavski dom na Kredarici.
Before the chapel continue right towards Dom Valentina Staniča and after 5 minutes further walking ascend to the summit of Kredarica, from where a nice view opens towards Triglav and surrounding mountains.
