Smrečje - Robniške peči (via Virnikova planina)

Access to starting point:
We drive to Preddvor or to the settlement Tupaliče, and then we continue driving in the direction of the settlement Zgornje Jezersko. Just a little after the road sign which marks the end of the settlement Spodnje Jezersko, at the end of the hamlet we turn left in the direction of GRZS learning center, tufa quarry, partisan hospital Krtina... Further, we drive through the valley of Komatevra, and along the path we can observe numerous rapids and waterfalls of the river Kokra. A little before the supplementary sign of the traffic sign which from July 20 to October 20 prohibits further driving, we park on the parking lot by the road.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we continue on a macadam road, and it quickly brings us to a smaller intersection. We continue on the wider, slightly left road, by which there is a gate and which still continues by the river Kokra. The road higher makes two hairpin turns and brings us to a marked intersection below the abandoned homestead Robnik (on some maps also Robenik).
From the intersection, we continue on the right road in the direction of GRZS learning center (left Komatevra and partisan hospital Krtina), and soon a nice view opens up on the highest peaks of Kamnik Savinja Alps. Further, we ascend on the slopes of the peak Robniške peči, and after crossing a stream we pass to the slopes of Virnikov Grintovec, and only a few minutes of ascent separate us from Virnikova planina.
From the learning center we continue on the macadam road which continues towards the north, then crosses a large number of gullies and first turns towards the west, later towards the south. We follow the road, which most of the time ascends gently to moderately and from which beautiful views occasionally open up, to its end, where there is a turning area; from the turning area we continue right upwards on pathless terrain and ascend through a steeper wide gully to a small saddle, where we reach the cart track.
On the cart track we continue diagonally across the steep northwestern slope of Robniške peči; when we reach the western ridge we leave the cart track and continue along the ridge. To reach the ridge we must first ascend steeply from the cart track, then follow the ridge to the peak of Robniške peči, which is a few minutes away.
