Spodnja Kokra - Javorov vrh (via Baba)

Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Jesenice motorway take the Kranj - east exit and continue following the road towards Jezersko. Just a few kilometres after the turn-off for Preddvor, on the right side of the road we will spot a transformer and next to it a parking lot where we park. There are also signposts for the Čemšenik hut here.

Route description:
From the parking lot first carefully cross the road, then head to the footpath towards the Čemšenik hut. The wide path ascends barely noticeably to the Polajnar farmstead, where we step onto the road which we follow to the right.
The road steeply ascends right behind the house, but somewhat higher it loses the asphalt surface. Further the road levels out and turns slightly to the left, where it approaches the Čemšeniški stream completely. A little further we cross the mentioned stream and right after it we arrive at a marked junction, where we continue on the left road towards the Čemšenik hut. The road then begins to ascend more steeply again and brings us to the Čemšenik hut after less than 30 minutes of further walking.
From the Čemšenik hut continue behind the hut on the well-visible but unmarked path that goes into the forest and begins first gently then increasingly steeply ascending. The path soon brings us to a modest viewpoint, where it turns slightly right and then ascends transversely. Higher the path brings us to the main ridge (view of the Gorenjska plain), where it ascends even more steeply and brings us after a few minutes of further walking to a more level area where a wooden hut (weekend cabin) stands.
A little before the hut the path turns right and after a few more steps of walking brings us to the logbook box on Baba.
From the logbook box continue on the well-traceable trail that continues along the occasionally panoramic ridge from which we first get a nice view towards Cjanovci, Kočni, Grintovcu, Kalški greben and other surrounding hills. The path ahead first continues along the left side of the ridge, then after an indistinct saddle passes to the right (eastern) slopes of Potoška gora. A few-minute transverse ascent follows, then we join the marked path that leads from the Dom Čemšenik.
Continue upwards and relatively quickly arrive at the saddle between Potoška gora on the left and the forepeak of Javorov vrh on the right.
At the saddle there is a marked junction where we continue right (left Potoška gora, slightly left Planinska koča Iskra na Jakobu (via one of the mentioned paths we can descend)) towards Javorov vrh. The path continues along the forested ridge, to the indistinct forepeak it veers right. A gentle ascent follows from where some views open up again, then the path returns to the forest and forks. The left path leads towards Zavetišče v Hudičevem borštu, Cjanovci, Srednji vrh, etc., we continue straight towards Javorov vrh. Approximately 15 minutes of somewhat steeper ascent follow and the path brings us to the panoramic peak where there is a logbook box and a pleasant bench.
