Spodnji Slemen - Žavcarjev vrh

Access to starting point:
A) We drive to Maribor, then continue driving towards Dravograd. A little before the road sign which marks the end of the settlement Spodnji Slemen, on the right we notice red mountain signposts for Žavcarjev vrh, where the described path begins. There are no designated parking spaces at the starting point.
B) From Dravograd we drive towards Maribor. At the beginning of the settlement Spodnji Slemen, on the left at the intersection we notice red mountain signposts for Žavcarjev vrh, where the described path begins. There are no designated parking spaces at the starting point.

Route description:
From the starting point we continue on a side asphalt road in the direction of Žavcarjev vrh, which soon turns left and steeply ascends in a few hairpin turns. At the last house the asphalt ends, and we bypass the house on the left side. Behind the house it first seems that there is no continuation of the path, but the trail which runs through a smaller gully quickly brings us to another asphalt road.
We continue upwards to the yellow house, where there is a very loud dog, then through the yard and orchard we return to the forest. Through the forest we first ascend steeply, when we reach the power line poles it flattens a little. The path ahead leads us along a cart track, later a trackway, and after two benches the path becomes steeper again. Higher up the path leads us along a macadam road, along which we arrive at the saddle below Jarčev vrh.
Next follows an easy descent to the settlement Zgornji Slemen, and the path leads us past the farm Jarc and Urbas-Hober and past an old school. Soon we arrive at a junction, from which we ascend towards the farm Kljusef, where the asphalt which started at the farm Urbas-Hober ends. Next follows an easy ascent through a strip of forest, past the transformer and across a meadow, then we arrive in a spruce forest, where there is also a chapel by the path. The path ahead brings us to the farm Hladin, and from there we continue along the road to the Koča na Žavcarjevem vrhu, where we are rewarded with a beautiful view.
From the hut we continue in the direction of Žavcarjev vrh, after 5 minutes of easier ascent through the forest we reach Žavcarjev vrh, which is the neighbouring peak of the somewhat higher Možičev vrh.
