Studenice - Sveta Marjeta na Boču

Access to starting point:
A) From the direction of Ljubljana we leave the highway in Slovenske Konjice and through Žiče, Loče and Zbelovo we get to the center of Poljčane. In the center, we turn right in the direction of Studenice and after about three kilometers we reach Studenice, where we continue right over the bridge over the river Dravinja into the main part of the settlement. In front of the monastery complex we safely park.
B) From the direction of Maribor we leave the highway in Slovenska Bistrica, where signs point us to Poljčane. In the center, we turn left in the direction of Studenice and after about three kilometers we reach Studenice, where we continue right over the bridge over the river Dravinja into the main part of the settlement. In front of the monastery complex we safely park.
C) From the direction of Ptuj, Kidričevo through Ptujska gora, Majšperk and Makole we get to Studenice, where we continue left over the bridge over the river Dravinja into the main part of the settlement. In front of the monastery complex we safely park.

Path description:
After a short tour of the central part of Studenice, we continue left from the monastery complex next to the parish house. In the passage/underpass between the parish house and the Studenice winegrowers' association we continue upwards along a cart track beside a stone wall and the nuns' cemetery. We soon reach the spring(s) of the Topli studeniški stream left of the path and cross the stream on a narrow footbridge. We continue upwards, now along the old Roman road, which through long centuries has retained the original form of the basic path higher up into Boč. Upon reaching the forest road we turn left, the road to the right leads to the settlement Podboč or Zgornje Poljčane.
We follow the forest road and at the first larger junction we continue right, the road to the left leads in the direction of Makole. Further on we reach, to the right of the road, the log cabin of the hunters of LD Poljčane at Golnik. We continue along the road, which levels out for a few meters. After a short flat section we continue the ascent and soon reach another junction, where we continue left onto the narrower forest road; to the right the path continues towards the tower on Boč. Along the narrower forest road between Kisovec to the left and Drevesnica to the right we soon reach the approximately 645-meter-high saddle above Formila. We continue downwards, Formila already visible to our right, and soon a marked mountain path from Makole joins from the left.
Formila is reached and a short extension follows to the junction: left to the partisan hospital, Gaveza, Gril's chapel, Plešivec... and right to the mountain hut on Boč. The junction is also the intersection with the Štajerska-zagorska or "B" - Bratska pot path.
After a short tour we continue right along the forest road in the direction of the mountain hut on Boč. At the first junction we turn sharply left upwards along the forest road; on the tree trunk is the inscription Donačka gora and the blazes. We follow the road higher into the forest and soon reach the grassy clearing east below Hrastovec. At the junction we go right, followed by a descent along the forest road. We soon reach the trail's destination, the church of St. Marjeta below one of the lower peaks of Boč, the 791-meter-high Hrastovec, which rewards us with views of Obsotelje, Kozjansko, Croatian Zagorje and more.
The length of the trail from Studenice is about 7500 meters, 460 positive elevation meters and 70 negative elevation meters.
