Access to starting point:
We leave the highway LJ-MB at the exit Dramlje and drive towards Šentjur. In Šentjur we go towards Kozje, Gorica pri Slivnici. In Gorica at the roundabout we go towards Sv. Štefan, Loka, Podčetrtek. Further, we drive along Slivniško jezero (approx. 3 km straight past the turn-off for Sv. Štefan), at the next intersection we turn right towards Ječovo, Dobrina, Hrastje. After approx. 500 meters we arrive at Tourist Farm Žurej (the first farm by the road - Javorje 32, Gorica pri Slivnici).
Route description:
The described path runs through private land and, due to prohibited passage, is no longer in use.
We begin the hike at Tourist Farm Žurej-Ječovo. Through a nice Javorska dolina, where according to folk tradition the first potato in Slovenia was planted, we cross the Voglajna river and turn left into the forest. The marked path leads us past the watering place. We continue through the managed forest, where with some luck we can gather many species of mushrooms. We arrive at the first steeper ascent: «Kurčev hrib». This part of the path is especially wonderful in spring, during the Traditional Hike. A descent follows, and the path brings us to «Grofov štant», where we can join the steep, very demanding path, or continue right along the road to the Užmah farm. Here hikers are always welcome and well served. A wonderful view opens up on the valley below us, reaching to the Kamniško-Savinja Alps, Pohorje, Boč, Donačka gora. After 15 minutes of walking, we arrive at «pušnšank» Užmah, and continue on the cart track to a small old Kozjan cottage, where we turn left onto the macadam road. After ten minutes on the macadam, we turn left uphill and through a smaller chestnut forest arrive at the famous «Ravne njive». A farm Lipovšek once stood here, which the Germans burned down during the war. Only the foundations and a smaller hayrack remain, where we can rest. The mighty linden tree also resisted the German aggressor and still stands today. We continue on flat terrain, past Veliki Špiček (669 m) on the left. We follow the blazes and after 10 minutes of walking arrive at the summit - to the place where the Tower of Love will stand.

Interesting: Beer at the tower will cost when it opens (presumably April 27th as I heard from local sources) 2 EUR, at Turistična kmetija Žurej it's 2.5 EUR. Usually price increases with altitude.

We've hiked the trail from Ječovo - Žurej farm to Žusem several times, the trail is fantastic, and the locals are very friendly too. Beer at Žurej costs 2EUR, same as at Žusem. We must praise their homemade wine, which is really excellent, not to mention the food! Bravo, keep it up!

Hello, I see chains in the picture so I'm wondering if it's possible to avoid them, since I'd like to hike the trail with my dog. Thanks and LP

Somewhere in the middle of the trail from the tourist farm Žurej, a marked easy path (panoramic) branches off to the right, which goes a little around and is suitable for everyone.

That's true what @hazo says, then they cheated me at Žurej's, so I recommend avoiding this farmstead by a wide margin!

The path described above is the one suitable also for a dog (@baxon), children,... The pegs and cables are on the difficult path, I think the fork is marked. Both lead to the top and the tower of love.

Hello, I'm interested if the Žusma stamp is only in the cabin by the tower, which is open only on weekends, or also at some other place outside it? Thank you for the answer.

I would ask the PD to fix the marking of this panoramic path. The path is DEFINITELY NOT PASSABLE! (probably for some time already) Two years ago I first went along the panoramic path from the top of Žusem back to the valley, nice path. This time the path ended a little further from the Kozjanska hut at the hunting observation post.. path into the forest and out of the forest slightly overgrown and unkempt, then we reach a hut where the path is closed, “PRIVATE PROPERTY, PASSAGE FORBIDDEN” and barrier with fence and shepherd.. ok I check the path, see that ahead is correct, that we just need to pass by the last farm Užmah.. where about 50m before the hut a dog warning sign alerts us and shortly after a barking dog runs towards us.. ok we turn back! Warnings also at the “Grofov štant” (meaning don't go right towards the farm) WALK ON MARKED PATHS AND NOT ON PRIVATE PROPERTY which really doesn't show where private is until you're already there.. THIS TIME REALLY DISAPPOINTED!

Can someone explain if this path is passable (regarding the above Tjašin post)? We plan to hike this path on 13.8. Or is it better to go from the castle? Thanks.

This year on 1.1. I hiked this path and had no problems at all. Maybe there really aren't many markings on that section of the path, but it wasn't as bad as shown in the post above, I really didn't feel that.

Indeed there are signs prohibiting passage over the land, and also quite a large dog, we went past hope they're not angry, if there is anger though I suggest they sort it out with those who mark this path, I myself wrote to the association but sadly no response.

Nice path but the famous pipe on the tree in Kurčev breg is unfortunately no longer there. Someone borrowed it

Beautiful and interesting trail with the story of Žusem castle and its ruins and the viewpoint tower... Suitable also for family hikes. Some snapshots from the hike May 2021 at https://bit.ly/2UMJMjJ
