Description of mountain:
Žusem is a 669-meter-high hill with a rich history and great potential for the future. It forms the northern edge of Kozjansko, and its name derives from the surname of the first castle owner, the Žusem knight and Krško ministerial Poppo de Suzzenheim. The view from Žusem to the south reveals the divide between two worlds: the pre-Alpine and Subpannonian. To the west and south rise hills composed mainly of dolomite and limestone, with the highest peaks between 500 and 800 meters (Kunšperška gora, Orlica, Vetrnik, Oslica, Rudnica, Bohor), which belong to the eastern Posavsko hribovje and thus to the pre-Alpine world. The settlement of Dobrina spreads across the southern slope of Žusem, and Hrastje across the western.
In recent years, tourist and other activities on Žusem and its surroundings have developed significantly. Hiking and paragliding stand out in particular. The proximity of Slivnica Lake also brings individual excursion tourism, which positively impacts the development of local tourist farms. There is also potential for spa tourism development at Grajski vrelec spring in Dobrina.
