Veliki Boč (Zgornji Kovač) - Koča na Žavcarjevem vrhu

Access to starting point:
A) From the road Maribor - Dravograd, after the road sign which marks the beginning of the settlements Zgornja and Spodnja Selnica we turn right towards Sveti Duh na Ostrem Vrhu. We continue driving through the valley of Bistrica to the crossroad at the homestead Zgornji Kovač, where to the left continues the road towards Sveti Duh na Ostrem Vrhu, and to the right continues the road towards Žavcarjev vrh and Dom CŠOD Škorpijon. At the beginning of the described path, there are no arranged parking spaces.
B) From the road Dravograd - Maribor, at the end of settlements Zgornja and Spodnja Selnica we turn left towards Sveti Duh na Ostrem Vrhu. We continue driving through the valley of Bistrica to the crossroad at the homestead Zgornji Kovač, where to the left continues the road towards Sveti Duh na Ostrem Vrhu, and to the right continues the road towards Žavcarjev vrh and Dom CŠOD Škorpijon. At the beginning of the described path, there are no arranged parking spaces.

Path description:
From the starting point, we head onto the right road in the direction of Planinska koča na Žavcarjevem vrhu. The path ahead leads us past individual houses and ascends along the stream Lipuševa graba. At a few smaller crossroads, we continue straight or on the main road, and at the marked crossroad, we go right in the direction of the footpath. After the crossroad, the asphalt ends, and the road turns right and moves away from the stream. Then follows a few minutes of diagonal ascent through the forest; when we step out of the forest, we ascend amid nice views to the homestead Rumf, where we continue sharply left on a cart track. The cart track in a moderate ascent slowly turns to the right, and then along a panoramic ridge we reach the homestead Ročič, behind which we reach first a still asphalted road, which we follow to the right. The asphalt quickly ends, and we walk along the road to the marked junction, where from the left joins the path from Tojzlov vrh or homestead Šiker.
Here from the road we continue slightly right in the direction of Žavcarjev vrh, where we walk some 10 steps on a wider cart track, and from it we then go left onto a marked narrower cart track. Further on, we diagonally leave the forest, then return into it and after a short descent also return to the macadam road. We continue through the forest, and from the nearby crossroad we go right in the direction of the marked road (to the left continues Pot grebenskih kmetij) and then in one minute of further walking arrive at Koča na Žavcarjevem vrhu.
