Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Koper highway, take the Divača exit and follow the road ahead in the direction of the villages Lokev and Lipica. The road then quickly brings us to the village of Lokev, where at the end of the village we come to a crossroads, where a road towards the Vilenica cave branches off to the right. We turn onto this road from which soon a road branches off to the right (the turn-off is marked), which after 100 m brings us to the parking lot at the Vilenica cave.
Path description:
From the parking lot, we walk through a meadow to the mountain signposts, which we see on the other side of the already mentioned meadow. We continue left in the direction of Sežana (right marked path to Stari tabor) on a cart track, which in 5 minutes of walking by bushes brings us to an unmarked junction.
We continue right slightly upwards on a cart track to the next junction, where we continue left on a less trodden cart track. The cart track ascends more steeply, and after 10 minutes of walking, we arrive at a junction before Tuplo cave. If we wish to visit Tuplo cave, we continue right. After a few meters, we arrive in front of the entrance. If we enter the cave, we also pass by the second entrance (which is vertical), and then the cave continues. We return to the junction and continue forward on a cart track, which ascends slightly more steeply on the slope of Veliki hrib (571 m). At the next junction, we continue right on a footpath, which again brings us to a junction, where we continue right. The footpath ascends more steeply to an indistinct saddle, and the footpath flattens. We arrive at a less noticeable junction, where we continue left on a narrower footpath. After 5 minutes, we reach a marked path from Povirja, where right and soon left, and past cribs (when they are present), in a few steps we ascend to the panoramic summit of Stari tabor.
