Zgornja Kungota - Sveti Urban above Maribor

Access to starting point:
We drive to the Pesnica roundabout and take the exit for Lenart. We quickly leave the road towards Lenart in the Slovenske gorice and continue right in the direction of Zgornja Kungota and Dolnja Počehova, and still before the quick road, we go once again right in the direction of Zgornja Kungota. Further on, we drive on the main road to Zgornja Kungota, where in the middle of the settlement we turn right uphill towards the cemetery, where we park.

Path description:
From the parking lot at the cemetery we continue on the road towards the nearby church of St. Kunigunda, where the first blazes appear.
Behind the church, we continue left downwards and in a few minutes we descend to the main road, which we carefully cross at the pedestrian crossing. On the other side of the road, we go right and continue along the sidewalk to the first crossroad, then the signs for Svečinska pot direct us left onto a side road that crosses the Pesnica River over a bridge.
A little further on, we go once again left over the wooden bridge, behind it we go right, where we continue on an overgrown path that runs between the field and the stream. A little further, the path enters the forest, where the trail is still difficult to follow, but we follow the blazes. When we leave the forest we reach a cart track, along which we continue towards the nearby homestead; before the homestead we go sharply right. The path ahead leads us through a strip of forest, then we reach another road that leads us past a few houses. A little further, the road becomes asphalted, somewhat further we reach a somewhat wider road, along which we continue the ascent. From the mentioned road we soon go right onto a footpath that ascends through the forest; after a short descent we return to the road.
We continue along the marked road, which continues through the forest for a few more minutes; when we leave the forest we continue along the panoramic ridge, where the path leads us past a few houses. Further on, from the ridge we again pass onto the slope and arrive at a triangular crossroad in the middle of which there is a shrine.
Here we go left (straight to Gaj nad Mariborom) along the road, where the asphalt ends quickly, then we ascend to an asphalt road amid nice views, where we join the access road to Sv. Urban.
We continue left and enter the forest, where we cross the slopes. We quickly arrive at a crossroad, where a road branches off to the right to the Hlade farm; we continue straight and soon leave the forest. There follows some ascent past individual houses, higher up we can already see the church of St. Urban quite close by. The path continues ahead with nice views of the surroundings, and from the left another marked path from Maribor joins us (the path past Brunček).
We continue straight; we leave the asphalt road at an unmarked junction, where a path branches off to the right leading towards the top of Sv. Urban.
There follows a shorter transverse ascent across a panoramic slope, then we reach another road, which we follow to the right. We walk along the road for another minute and arrive at the church of St. Urban, from which a nice view opens towards Maribor and the surrounding hills.
