Castle Stari grad Kamnik, in the Middle Ages named castle Zgornji grad (Oberstain) is situated on a panoramic hill east from Kamnik named Krniška gora. Today on the top of Krniška gora there are only ruins of the castle, which was the first time mentioned already in the 12th century. By the ruins of the former castle there is also a guesthouse Grof Andeš, which is open on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. From the top, a nice view opens up also on Kamnik Savinja Alps, Kamnik, Gorenjska and Ljubljana Basin. In nice visibility, the view reaches all the way to Snežnik and Triglav.
