Description of mountain:
Frauenkogel is a 683-meter-high hill in the western part of the Graz mountains in Steiermark.
Hill is located not far away, northwest from Graz.
On the top of Frauenkogel was a medieval defense ring, which served as a shelter for women and children from the area of Straßengel. As the toponym "Ochsengrube" in the map of the counts Attems in Gösting indicates, they had a safe shelter nearby for pets and livestock.
In the year 1892, they built a base from surrounding rock blocks for the lookout tower "Goldhannwarte".
The wooden lookout tower was destroyed in a fire in 1908, but the collapsed foundations have been preserved to this day.
