Description of mountain:
Hafelekarspitze is Innsbruck's local mountain and the most popular peak in one of the most admired ridges of the eastern Alps: Nordkette, which forms the characteristic panorama of Innsbruck, the town located deep below it. The main reason for the popularity of this otherwise indistinct peak is the cable car that runs right from Innsbruck's center almost to the summit; from the upper station, it's just a few minutes of easy walking.
The peak is an outstanding vantage point: Innsbruck lies below like an open book, the chains of the Zillertal, Stubai, and part of the Ötztal Alps spread to the south, while to the north the remainder of the Karwendel range looms, forming one of the most recognizable parts of the Northern Limestone Alps.
