Kemacher is the highest peak in the central part of the often-admired Nordkette ridge, which rises directly above Innsbruck and gives the city below its characteristic appearance as a high natural barrier.
The only marked route to Kemacher follows the path of an attractive and not overly demanding via ferrata, offering exceptional views south to Innsbruck and the Stubai Valley, and north to the picturesque Karwendel range, of which Nordkette forms the southern part. Since a cable car brings visitors almost to the start of the ferrata, it is very popular, and Kemacher receives considerable visits as a result.
