Description of mountain:
Mali Karman is the first more prominent rise in the far southwestern foothills of the Julian Alps. It lies parallel to the main ridge of Veliki Karman as a completely independent mass, linked only by the Predol saddle. To the east, the Vedronza stream has carved a deep valley between them. Despite its apparently modest height, Mali Karman is far from unimposing. Rising more than 1100 meters above the Friulian plain in the shape of a grassy pyramid, it offers a unique view of the surroundings. It is somewhat marred only on the north side, obscured by the higher and more massive Veliki Karman, whose ridge looks quite impressive from here. Due to its exposed position, the slopes of Mali Karman host diverse vegetation, including some endemic species. On the summit stands a chapel dedicated to the Redeemer (Il Redentore), built in 1908, though it is no longer the original. Twenty years after construction, it was damaged by lightning and completely destroyed by the 1976 earthquake. Numerous paths lead to the summit of the lower Karman from all sides, ensuring plenty of visitors. Moreover, it is appreciated not only by hikers but primarily by mountain bikers and paragliders.
