Description of mountain:
Monte Pelmo is a 3,168-meter-high mountain in the Italian Dolomites. It stands somewhat apart from other mountain groups and is therefore clearly visible even from afar. It was first ascended by John Ball on September 19, 1857. The famous ledge along the easiest route to the summit is named after him. From the summit, which bears a cross, there is a very nice view over much of the Dolomites, extending to Triglav in fine weather.
