Planina Mjesec

Description of mountain pasture:
Mesečev plato / Planina Mjesec is located above Baška, at the edge of the forest on a plateau-like area below the Hlam summit (461 m). On Mesečev plato there is a small shrine and some information boards. In the shrine area, which is at the forest edge, certain animal species live whose sting or bite can be dangerous to humans. On the plateau area or throughout Krk's hilly terrain, one may encounter the black widow (Latrodectus tredecimguttatus) (the black widow is a venomous spider (only the female is dangerous to humans), recognizable by its black color and thirteen red (sometimes yellowish or orange) spots) and the nose-horned viper (Vipera ammodytes) (the nose-horned viper is a venomous snake, identified by the small horn on its nose).
