Description of mountain:
Srđ is a 415-meter-high hill rising above Dubrovnik.
The first patron saint of Dubrovnik was Sveti Srđ, after whom the hill is named.
On the summit there is a transmitter, a stone cross, a restaurant, and the Imperial Fortress, which houses a Homeland War Museum.
The fortress was built between 1806 and 1816 during the Napoleonic Wars and expanded during the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy.
Srđ was once covered in oak forest that locals called dubrava, from which the city's name derives.
It is a popular tourist destination, accessible by hiking trails, road, and cable car.
From the panoramic terrace at the upper cable car station, one can see the entire city of Dubrovnik with its walls, Lapad Peninsula, Lokrum Island, the Elaphiti Islands, and the open Adriatic Sea with other islands on the horizon.
