Description of mountain:
Straden is an exceptionally picturesque market town in the heart of the volcanic hills of southeastern Austrian Styria, attracting the eye from afar with its unique panorama. The town lies on a prominent promontory above which three church towers rise instead of a single one, belonging to four different churches. This architectural peculiarity in such a small area is a true rarity and gives the place a mystical character.
The central role in the settlement is played by the parish church of the Assumption of Mary, reigning atop the hill and representing the heart of local religious life. Nearby is a fascinating double church with sanctuaries built one above the other. The upper part is the church of St. Sebastian, while below it, in the basement or crypt, is the church of Our Lady of Sorrows. The overall picture is completed by the church of St. Florian, standing at the town's highest point and known for its rich Baroque interior.
In addition to its sacred heritage, Straden offers visitors breathtaking views of the surrounding vineyards and undulating landscape extending to the nearby Stradner Kogel. The town is threaded with themed and hiking trails connecting rich cultural history with top local cuisine and viticulture, for which the wider area is renowned.
