Alpenberg is 973 meter high peak with a cross and is part of the Salzkammergut Mountains. The peak is located 3 km south from the center of Aurach am Hongar and 5 km northwest from the center of Reindlmühl. The nearest mountain hut is Hochsteinalm, located 10km south-southeast. Closer is Hortigstube (Jagdhütte), which is located 1.8km to the southeast. South-southwest of the summit is the valley Weißenbachtal.
