Birkenbichl is 881 meter high peak and is part of the Lavanttal Alps. The peak is located 1 km north-northwest from the center of Obdach and 2 km south from the center of Kathal in Obdachegg. The nearest mountain hut is Alpengasthof Sabathy, located 7km west. A little further is Rannachhütte. West-southwest of the summit is the valley Görtschitztal.
